know about them?” I arch my eyebrows.
“Yeah, I caught Felicity with a load of them. It’s no biggie.” He shrugs. “They’re still delicious.”
“Okay, we all know where Bryce is going with that. Let’s all go to the diner and have dinner there,” Rufio suggests.
“It sounds good to me,” Renata chimes in.
“Me too,” Toby agrees.
“Super. Let me get my jacket.”
Since there was no need anymore for Xavier to pretend to be Poppy, his solution was to retire the old man. He posed as the new owner who kept everything the same. No one suspected a thing.
He was able to find a technician to fix the fridge, but even so, Bryce claimed the integrity of the frozen pies had been compromised. His so-called logical solution was to bake and eat them all. At least he shared one with the rest of us.
I excuse myself from the table to use the restroom, but when I return, I stop at a distance and observe my new family for a little bit. I can’t believe all that has happened to me in such a short period of time. I’ve found the biggest love in the world with four amazing men. My own magnificent four. I’ve made new friendships that will last a lifetime. I have Xavier, the protector and father figure I didn’t know I needed. And now with him marrying Leticia and, my guess, adopting Theo, everything is coming into place. The only person missing in this picture-perfect scenario is Rosie. I miss her so damn much every day, but slowly, I’m learning to cope with her absence. Knowing she’s reunited with my parents helps.
Bryce is laughing at something Theo said when I catch his gaze. His smile changes from amusement to a sexy grin that makes my toes curl inside my shoes. Then he winks at me, turning me into a puddle. Soon, Rufio, Phoenix, and Morpheus notice where his attention is diverted, and hell and damn, I’m literally on fire under their scorching gazes.
“You’d better get back to your seat, girlie, before you orgasm where you stand,” Felicity jokes.
“Okay, I don’t want to go home right now,” Rufio pipes up from the shotgun seat.
“Why not? I’m dying to get Daisy out of her clothes.” Phoenix squeezes my thigh.
“Do you seriously want to perform an orgy under Mr. X’s roof right after the pregnancy test incident?” Morpheus asks.
“No,” I say with regret. “Definitely not.”
I’m burning with desire, but I really don’t want to get it on tonight where Xavier can hear us.
“I have a suggestion,” Bryce says from the driver seat.
“I’m listening,” I say.
“Isn’t Unearthly Desires closed until further notice?”
“Yeah.” I narrow my eyes. “You want to go there?”
“Why not? It has couches.”
Phoenix rubs his hands together. “And stripper poles. Oh, I like this idea very much. How about a lap dance, babe?”
I turn my face to glare at him properly. “Really?”
“What?” he asks with innocent, round eyes.
“Don’t try to make him understand, love.” Morpheus shakes his head, grinning.
An idea forms in my head. “Okay, sure. Let’s go there.”
“Uh-oh. I don’t like that tone.” Rufio turns in his seat. “You’re plotting something, aren’t you, my little demon?”
“Maybe.” I smile.
It’s strange to be at Unearthly Desires at this late hour and see the neon sign turned off and the parking lot deserted. The windows have been boarded up to avoid looting and break-ins. Getting the alarm disabled and the door unlocked is child’s play for Bryce. Although Xavier’s told us several times to not use our powers out in the open, there’s no one around here.
Once inside, Bryce turns on all the stage and bar lights but keeps the overhead ones dimmed. I take a seat in front of the main stage, propping my legs up on the table and linking my hands behind my head.
“All right, guys. Here’s the deal. To get some love tonight, you’ll have to earn it.”
“I knew you were up to no good.” Rufio points his finger at me, trying to keep a serious face, but the upturn of his lips gives him away.
“That’s right, babe. I’m a bad girl tonight, and I want to see you all strip for me. Work that pole.”
They trade glances and, with a collective shrug, hop on the stage. Bryce turns the music system on. What do you know, the boy has moves.
It’s funny to watch them dance at first, but then it gets really hot. Fuck. It’s no fun to simply sit back and not participate. I jump from the chair, already yanking at my clothes.
“Wait, Morpheus. You’re doing that move wrong, babe. Let me teach you,” I say with a grin.
I join them on the stage, hoping Bryce didn’t accidentally turn the security cameras on because tonight, I’m not holding anything back.
