down at Alfie to give an apologetic smile. Alfie just tilted his head.
Reaching over, Matt grabbed the phone and answered it. "Hey, Mom." Alfie smiled when he realized that Matt couldn't really ignore his mother.
Alfie watched as Matt listened to his mother before hazel eyes dropped to his face. "My mom wants to know if she can come over." Alfie's smile grew. "Of course, tell her to come over for brunch."
Matt gave him a soft smile before he finished the call with his mother. Chucking the phone to the side, Matt showed his appreciation by attacking Alfie's neck with kisses. He moved his way up and savored the deep kiss that left them both breathless.
Sam came running into the room, carrying his food bowl. It clanking to the floor made both men look at the pooch and chuckle. They got out of the bed. Alfie made a quick detour to the kitchen to feed Sam and made his way back to Matt who was sitting on the bed, going through his phone.
They showered together. Matt helped Alfie by washing his hair and back. Alfie helped by washing his back for him in return. They finished their morning routines before placing Sam in his crate with a bowl of water and all his toys and pillow before grabbing their wallets and keys.
Walking down the street to the store to grab some brunch items, Matt grabbed Alfie's hand and tugged him closer. Alfie smiled up at him as he leaned his head onto his shoulder for a few seconds.
"Thank you for giving me a chance," Matt said as he looked down at Alfie.
Being tugged into stopping, Matt turned around to see Alfie look up at his seriously.
"Matt, I will only say this once, so please listen carefully. You did nothing wrong, as my father said, what were you supposed to do? We were still kids ourselves when it all happened, and we came out better for it. The only reason I wanted some time to think was to make sure that being together is something we both wanted," Alfie said as he tugged Matt closer to give him a hug.
Matt swallowed the lump down his throat and squeezed the air out of Alfie.
They walked to the store, side by side, arms wrapped around each other. It was just then that a man coming their way started to look familiar. Edward noticed them first and waved with a smile. He got closer and saw their position and put two and two together before his face lit up. "You finally decided to get together?" he asked with a smirk as Alfie's face blushed a pretty pink.
"We all saw it coming by the way," Edward said as he looked at the two. Alfie tilted his head and made an inquisitive noise. Edward chuckled, and his smile softened. "You two never saw how you looked at each other, but we all did, even the regulars have even started to notice." Alfie's cheeks turned a deep red.
Edward looked down at his watch to check the time. "Well, I have to get to the doctor, Megan is waiting for me."
A look of concern made itself home on Alfie's face. "Is everything all right?" Alfie asked, but Edward just smiled. "Nothing is wrong. We’re just going to the doctor to confirm something, but I have to go now, or I'll be late," Edward waved as he passed them.
Matt watched as Alfie looked behind them. Tugging Alfie along, they continued their walk to the store. They got some fruit, eggs, bacon and some fancy bread to make French toast. They also got some coffee and juice before they paid and made the trip home.
Once there, they started on brunch. They chopped the fruit, got the egg batter ready. The bacon was cooked, and the table set. The coffee was brewing by the time Matt's mother messaged him that she was at the bookstore's entrance.
While Matt went down to open for his mother, Alfie finished the French toast and plated and brought it to the table.
Once the last plate was placed, the door opened. Daphne walked in talking about his courses. Daphne smiled when she saw Alfie. She walked around the table to hug him. Alfie hugged her back tightly.
Releasing Alfie, Daphne looked at both men and saw that they clearly had something to say.
"What is it?" she asked, looking between them. Matt smiled and walked up behind Alfie and embraced him from behind.
Looking between the two, Daphne quickly caught on
