dislike her. I needed forgiveness and there was no hate in forgiveness.

A pain pulsed in my chest causing me to wince.

“You okay?” Montana asked.

His questioned cause Hermes to glance over at me and that also brought Sadie’s eyes to me for the first time since she stepped into view.

“I’m good.” I squeaked.

“Hey Hermes—” Sadie greeted him with a smile.

“Hey Sadie. You be safe.” Hermes told her. “Don’t take candy from strangers.”

“But strangers have the best candy!” She pouted.

“You’ve been with Montana too long.” Hermes teased.

She winked at him, offered me a curt nod then kissed Montana again and turned to leave. Montana smacked her rump playfully and she squealed.

“Hank Patterson! You have company!” But she giggled while leaving. “You two behave yourselves! And Emma. Park.”

“Aye ay captain!” Montana called.

I wanted the floor to open up and swallow me.

If Montana realized, he said nothing. Instead, he and Hermes continued speaking about my trouble and I wandered off to grab some food. When I returned, Montana was gone, and Hermes was slamming the bottom of his handgun into his palm.

“Why do you need a gun?” I asked.

Hermes stared at me. “Well, when we go after the very bad men—I might need this so you don’t wind up dead.”

“Smart-ass.” I muttered. “Thanks for the clothes but you didn’t really have to get me panties and bras.”

“Got it. Next time, you prefer to go commando.” He smirked. “But I figured you wouldn’t want to walk around braless—it gets cold and you’d be cutting holes through things.”

“Oh my God!” I spat softly. “You’re an asshole.”

He laughed while strapping a holster around one massive thigh and dropping the gun into it. “Thank you.”

“It wasn’t a compliment.”

He said nothing but the grin on his face told me he’d won this argument. Even though I didn’t see how, I lifted my chin. “How do you know my bra-size?”

“Despite what you think, Tianna, I’m not a virgin. I’ve been with women. I’ve touched them in ways to make you blush.”

My cheeks were on fire. Thankfully, with my skin-colour, he probably couldn’t tell. Instead of bowing my head like I would usually do, I steeled my spine and kept my chin up. “I didn’t think you were a virgin. You probably sleep with everything on two feet.”

“Maybe.” He scoffed. “But you don’t have to worry. I won’t be sleeping with you.”

The sharp pain of an arrow crashed into my chest and the steel in my spine disintegrated as my chin fell. “Thanks for the clothes—I’ll pay you back.”

“That’s not necessary.”

“You’re helping me with this.” I told him. “I don’t want to take your money too. I mean, it wouldn’t feel right.”

“When this is over.” Hermes pushed to his overpowering height. “You can take me out for a drink.”

“Are you asking me out on a date?”

Hermes smirked at me and I had to press my thighs together again. Each time the right corner of his lips tugged upward, my body heated, and I lose track of my thoughts.

“Shut up.” I said stupidly, like a child who couldn’t think of a comeback fast enough.

Hermes exited the room, his masculine laughter drifting in on me.

I moaned.

If he kept being that damn sexy, I wouldn’t be making it.

Eating was the last thing on my mind then. I brought the rest of my food back to the kitchen and used a bowl to cover the plate. I poured myself a cup of coffee from his fancy maker and sipped without adding anything. I needed the caffeine to hit my soul before I strangle this man.

I barely had time to finish my anti-murder juice before he was back. He herded me out a side door, down a winding staircase that dropped us in the middle of a large garage. The room must have been the basement to the massive house.

“Is all this yours?” I turned, looking from one car to another. A midnight black one caught my attention and I gasped. “The Supernatural car!”

Hermes laughed. “You don’t have to say it in that kind of a whisper.”

“Yes, I do!” I drew close to it. “You have no idea how many fantasies I have about this car.”

“Oh?” Hermes was close to my ear. “Tell me more.”

I opened my mouth to reply then caught myself. “No!” I sputtered. “Pick a car and let’s go.”

Hermes laughed. “What does a woman like you fantasize about, Tianna?”

I couldn’t reply. If I had, I would definitely say something to embarrass myself and couldn’t take back. His beautiful eyes made me want to
