thought.” His voice cracked as he looked over his shoulder.
“That was Solva.” He told me.
“We should go after him!” I took his hand and tugged.
Hermes didn’t move. “Following him downtown Toronto isn’t safe and too complicated with traffic. We know where he’ll be. We either have to smoke him out when we’re ready or go in and get him.”
I exhaled. “Time for the calvary?”
Hermes smiled and kissed me again until my knees wobbled beneath me. I clutched his hips.
“For sure.” He replied when he finally lifted his head. “Let’s order food for the others. We can’t take down Troy on an empty stomach.”
“Um—didn’t they use a giant horse for that?”
“Amateurs.” Hermes teased.
I laughed.
Hermes lifted his cell to his ear. While he waited, I stuck my head out into the path and looked both ways. People were still taking pictures.
“Hex.” Hermes’ voice pulled my gaze to his handsome face. “We found it…yeah. We’re heading back.”
Since the next time we would be back in the alley, it would be for a whole entirely different reason, I had Hermes take some pictures of me there. We also did a few selfies, and I couldn’t remember ever feeling that sexy before.
In the pictures, he held my hips, kissed my neck, carried me on his back—I didn’t wan this to end.
Tianna Sharp
While we waited for the Titan brothers and Echo to arrive, Kujo went for a run. Hermes and sequestered ourselves in his office. He gave me use of his computer and I began by checking my emails.
I shouldn’t have.
Since I’d left home, I hadn’t bothered checking. And since my phone could be used to track me, it had on airplane mode and off the entire time. Usually, I lived on the thing. But the risk was far to great to disobey. Turning it on could cost me Hermes and I wasn’t about to take that chance.
While he read from a book on the leather sofa, I tried focusing on work. I began by setting an out of office message. Then, I started going down the list of over two hundred emails. Most of them, so far, were pricing questions, a few of them seemed sketchy but I flagged them and carried on.
From time to time, I glanced up at Hermes. There was something sexy about a man who read Tolstoy.
“War and Peace?”
“Mmhmm.”
“Do you like it?” I asked.
“So far.”
“Would you think of me differently if I told you I was supposed to read it in college and couldn’t get through it?”
Hermes looked up and smiled at me. “No. This kind of work isn’t for everyone.” He went back to his book.
Sighing, I tried focusing again on my emails. Though it was a struggle, I waded through quite a few before I gave in.
Sending one final email, I logged out of everything and made my way over. I climbed into his lap and cuddled into his chest.
Most men would have complained. They would have told me how busy they were and how distracting I was being. But Hermes was different. He paused to shift me comfortably against him, kissed me between the eyes then went back to his book.
I sighed and closed my eyes. Being like this with him was strangely invigorating. His arms were the like the perfect safety blanket—warm and perfect.
After a while, I fell asleep.
When I opened my eyes, outside the window as dark. Hermes was lying behind me with me cuddled into his body and a blanket over us. I didn’t want to move but something had caused me to open my eyes.
Blinking, I remained still, waiting for a reminder.
“Hermes?” Kujo’s voice was close to the door now.
When he stepped into the room, I groaned and tried sitting up. Hermes tightened his arms around me.
“Five more minutes.” He moaned.
“I’d love to, but Kujo is here.” I told him.
“I know Kujo is here.” Hermes told me. “Go back to sleep.”
Smiling, I kissed Hermes’ nose. “No, I mean, he’s in the office with us.”
Hermes shifted but didn’t open his eyes. “Are they here?” He asked.
“Yeah,” Kujo said.
I shoved my feet off the sofa and tucked the blanket behind me. Kujo must have guessed my struggle for he extended a hand to me to help me onto my feet. Smiling, I thanked him then turned to poke Hermes who bit toward me.
“You’re grumpy after you wake up.” I accused.
He merely winked at me and pushed from the sofa.
When I finally entered the room with the others after using the bathroom, the room was full. I
