Baby Got Bear - Milly Taiden Page 0,23
shirt, and step toward her. Running the backs of his fingers against her cheek, then over the curls on her shoulder, he shook his head. “Poor Beau will be all alone, out of his mind with worry with no clue why and lost on my lands.”
With her chin between his thumb and forefinger, he forced Lucy’s head back as far as it would go then leaned down until their lips brushed. “One way or another, your teddy bear is out of the game. He won’t be able to save himself, let alone you.”
Snatching his fingers from her face, allowing her head to hit the headboard, the look on his face was so full of satisfaction that something deep inside Lucy broke wide open.
Jumping to her feet, swaying back and forth, the effects of whatever the hell nasty-ass magic they’d dosed her with still messing with her balance, not to mention that her ankles were bound, she snarled, “Beau is going to tear you apart, asshole.”
Hopping closer, her toes dug into the hardwood floor as the rope around her ankles abraded her tender skin. She had no clue where her shoes were, and really didn’t care. It’d be one less thing to worry about when she shifted and ripped the fucker’s throat out. “If you weren’t so ugly, I’d mount your head over the fireplace when he’s done, but instead, I’m going to put it and you out for the pigs.
Laughing like she’d lost her damn mind, letting her crazy out—as Amelia liked to call it—Lucy narrowed her gaze, adding with a snort, “Do you know what happens to a body when pigs get at it?” She took another hop forward. “They eat everything.” Pointing at his crotch, she hunched her shoulders and bounced her head from side to side. “Even your teeny-weeny weenie.”
No sooner had the words flown across her lips than Lucy’s cheek was on fire from Terrance’s expertly placed backhand, and she went flying. Landing flat on her back in the middle of the musty mattress, she hadn’t even gotten her vision back before the alpha’s roar shook the windows of her prison. Splinters of wood and small metal hinges flew through the air, as the chair Terrance was sitting in sailed across the room.
“Get the hell out!”
Ignoring the instinct to cover her face or even so much as flinch, Lucy watched when the cracked ceramic lamp with no shade, an empty bookcase missing a shelf, and a TV table followed the chair. Turning her head as far as she could one way and then the other, she couldn’t help but snicker. It was a wasteland, and all because she pissed him off.
Terrance had revealed himself for the lunatic she figured him to be. He was crazy, stark raving mad. She didn’t have to be a doctor to see as spit flew from his lips and sweat poured down his face.
“I will eat that fucking bear’s liver!” Grabbing the leg of the table, still barely connected to the top, he beat it against the floor. His tantrum was comical, the best she’d seen since the time she babysat the Olsen’s pups.
Bracing herself, Lucy was forced to breathe or pass out right before the final piece of wood flew from Terrance’s hand. Sailing over her head, splinters rained down like a summer shower. Unfortunately, she was looking up when she should’ve been keeping her eyes on the lunatic in the room.
Launching at her in a blind rage, she was paralyzed with shock. Couldn’t scream, much less move, as the madman’s hands shifted to the paws of his wolf right before her eyes. Zeroing in on the points of his outstretched claws, the breeze of his first swing as it swiped past her face woke Lucy from her stupor.
Rolling onto her back and kicking out in one fluid motion, her feet grazed Terrance in the chest, throwing the wolf off balance for just a second. Scrambling off the mattress, Lucy’s knees hit the grimy tile with a painful thud as she threw herself down, trying to slide under the bed frame on her stomach.
All I need is one of these rusty bedsprings. Stab the son of a bitch in the throat. Shame dad’s magic got my wolf all locked down.
Pain, white-hot and all-encompassing tore up her legs as claws dug into the muscle of her calves. Yanked backward, Lucy was flopped over onto her back before being jerked into the air by the huge wolf’s paw around her neck.
Shaking her
