us who we are. It brought us here, together.”
“But the future,” he says, picking up. “The future we can create.”
“Yes.”
“And our future must be free,” he says.
“Yes,” I say.
I rise up until his hard cock is rubbing its way down my clit. I slide forward then down, and his dick slides in.
“The future,” I say.
“The future,” he groans as his dick seats fully inside.
Epilogue
Kiara
I spread my map flat on the table. Anzil whistles, shaking his head.
“Impressive,” he says.
“It’s not enough,” I say.
“No,” he agrees. “but we can fill in the missing parts.”
“Can we contact the free movement? Spthifius says he can.”
Anzil snorts. “We can’t trust him.”
“No,” I agree. “But do you know a better way?”
He frowns. “I don’t trust him.”
“I got that,” I snap. “But that’s not getting us anywhere, is it? Can you contact the free movement?”
“No,” he says, shaking his head.
“Are you even sure it really exists?”
“No,” he says.
“Okay, so that leaves us with Spthifius,” I say, folding the map and sliding it inside my shirt. “I have a plan.”
“What is it?” he asks.
“I’m going to have one of the other girls get close to him,” I say.
“Why not you?” he asks.
“Because he knows I’m with you,” I say. “Cora is with Xyron. We’ve established precedent that human girls will fall for aliens. I’ve seen him eyeing the girls and even me. So we’ll use that.”
Anzil nods. “They will use him. If he likes them, he won’t betray them in hopes of a tumble. It is a good plan.”
“Exactly,” I say. “We’d better get out there before Ductores gets pissed.”
He nods and leads the way out of his room. My plan is nebulous still, but it’s coming together. I’ll have to watch and figure out which one of the girls he likes best, then talk her into being my double agent.
No problem at all. Total piece of cake. And another piece of my long-term strategy comes into place.
As we walk onto the sands, I see Scarlet cleaning the railing of the balcony where Dominus comes to watch us train. She’s looking much better now than she did when we got her back. She’s no longer gaunt, and her hair isn’t flat and limp. She sees me looking and smiles. I wave, and she returns it with a small one then looks over her shoulder and sets to work on the railing again.
It stings. We’re still slaves. Still at the whims of these alien assholes, but we’re closer to freedom than we’ve been. One step and that’s the best I can do. I repeat my mantra. Neveah, Camilla, Paisley. Taking Scarlet’s name off that list feels really good.
I catch the sword flying at me without turning to face it. Frowning, I scan the house and spot four more of the girls doing various chores, all of them cleaning something or other. It steels my resolve.
These are my girls. My people. I’m responsible for their safety and wellbeing, and I won’t let them down. Not again.
Turning to Anzil, my heart swells until it’s pressing hard against my ribs. My chest might explode if it doesn’t stop soon. He’s a sexy man, yes, but the biggest thing is he gets me. We’ve both had our fair share of pain in the past.
He smiles, testing the weight of the wooden sword. I mimic his motions, then while he’s still twirling, I attack.
The past is done. The uncertainty of the future is our advantage. The future is malleable. It is ours to create, and I thank all that’s holy I’m no longer trying to do it alone.
Anzil at my side, I don’t think there is anything we can’t do.
I duck his swing, leaping up inside his sword arm and wrapping my legs around his waist. I wrap my arms around his neck at the same time.
“I love you,” I whisper, then slam his ass with the flat of my wooden sword.
I leap off, tumble, and rise to meet the future with my heart filled with love and a ready sword.
Kiara and Anzil have their HEA! But the story of Krix continues in the next book.
