Holding me, she leaned up and kissed me gently, sweetly. “And you for me,” she murmured.
In that moment of sincerity, I was lost. She had my heart and soul, and I would sacrifice everything to keep her safe.
I lifted my weight to look down at where we were joined and the sight took my breath away. She grabbed my hips, urging me to move harder and faster, gasping my name over and over. I felt her core grip me, her body undulating against mine until I was helpless to control my own response.
“Come with me?” It came out as a plea. The muscles of my lower back tightened and goosebumps erupted over my skin as my balls spasmed. I shuddered, moaning her name as I lost myself in her.
Languor seeped through my limbs. I would happily have stayed in the haven of her body forever, but I didn’t want to crush her. Gently, I kissed her forehead and slipped free of her warmth.
Her jade green eyes were glassy, her cheeks and neck flushed, and her mouth swollen from my kisses. I rolled onto the tiny space left on the single bed and tucked Ember into my side. She made a contented sound and snuggled in.
“Hm, that was…” She smiled, her eyelids drooping.
“What? Amazing? Mind blowing?”
“Arrogant asshole…” she mumbled, then leaned up and kissed me gently on my lips, looking me right in the eye like only she could. “But yeah, that was the most amazing, mind blowing sex of my life.”
I kissed her back. “Good, because it was all that and more for me. You are all I could ever want.” My voice shook a bit.
“Really?” There was a vulnerable edge to her voice that had me pulling her closer.
“Yes.”
Her arms snaked around me pulling me closer, like she wanted to get inside my skin. She smiled, her eyes closing. “Good. Because I’m not sharing you.”
Warmth kindled in my heart, pushing at the shadows that had protected it, chasing them away. I swallowed hard. Monsters threatened us at every turn, but I would give my life for hers if it meant she’d be safe. I angled myself so that I could see the door and rubbed small circles on her back. Ember might not know it, but she’d given me back my humanity. I had not killed Stone because I understood how broken I would be if she was taken from me again. I peered down at her peaceful expression and my heart squeezed. I had only ever loved her, no one else, and I’d protect her with everything I had.
Chapter 18
Ember

I awoke surrounded by heat and Connor’s heady, spicy scent. I inhaled deeply and murmured in contentment. Noise and movements echoed outside Connor’s room. I held in a groan as it dawned on me, we’d have to move soon, and I didn’t want to, not at all, not when I was so close to Connor. I opened my eyes, and smiled. His gorgeous chest was right in front of me. I couldn’t resist running my fingers over the hard planes of muscle. I enjoyed the view, lowering my gaze and taking my time as I admired the dips and ridges of his stomach, right down to where the happy trail of dark hair disappeared below the sheet.
He’s mine…
The thought rocked me, the need to show him a savage thing inside me. I latched on to his nipple and bit down.
“Fuuuuck.” He groaned and arched his spine, throwing his head back.
I smiled and pushed him onto his back, throwing my leg over his hips. I continued to wake him with kisses, rubbing my slick folds along the hard ridge of his erection.
