For The Win (Gamer Girls, #6) - Auryn Hadley Page 0,87
needs to be in Ohio. I'm closer to the end goal than you are. Please don't guess and make me lie?"
Kate just chuckled. "Not gonna. But you think moving in with you for a bit would be a better idea. I gotcha."
"At least help me convince her to take a little vacation at my place? Little wild making out, maybe some cuddling at night, and so on. You're what, an hour from me?"
"Bit less, I think." She paused to sip her coffee. "But you think I should tell her to live a little, enjoy her boyfriend, and if anything goes wrong, I will rush in and get her, right?"
"Shit, or Adam," Braden pointed out. "And we both know that if I cross a line, Chance will step in too."
"She doesn't know Chance," Kate pointed out.
"She will," he promised. Then he chuckled. "He'll probably be great for her ego. He can't help but flirt with basically anyone he respects at all."
"Really?" Kate sounded shocked. "I think I should be offended."
"He doesn't want to screw up the PLG deals," Braden said, waving her down. "That's it. Pissing off your boyfriend could lose the hotels, and yeah, none of us want that."
Then the door opened behind him. Kate lifted her head, so Braden turned to see Rhaven coming out. The smudged mascara had been fixed, her lipstick had been reapplied, but she'd put on jeans and a t-shirt. Tight jeans, but the tee was a bit too big, showing the curve of her chest. His eyes dropped and his mouth curled into a smile when he realized it, forcing them back up.
"I like that look too," he purred.
Rhaven just rolled her eyes. "What did I miss?"
"Braden filled me in on your talk with your family," Kate said. "Pretty sure he's supposed to be working, and I got my suite. So, that means you have this one to yourself for the rest of the weekend."
"What do I need a two-room suite for?" she asked.
Kate shrugged. "No idea. It's still the one I had reserved for you since the others were claimed. So, invite some friends over? See if PsychoCut got a suite this time."
"No," Braden groaned. "Anyone else."
Rhaven huffed. "That's my outfit leader you're talking about."
"Who hits on you every chance he can get," Braden said. "Now, I could be convinced not to be jealous if you invited me over too..."
"Yes, you can stay," Rhaven said, struggling not to giggle.
He was pretty sure that the only reason she wasn't blushing was her makeup. Then again, her cheeks were rosy, but he hadn't paid too much attention before, so could be cosmetics. It also didn't matter. He just liked seeing her like this. For some reason, Rhaven looked even more relaxed than she usually was at a convention. No, more like the weight had been lifted from her shoulders.
"Hey," he said. "You want to come downstairs and help me hang up these drapes for the Deviant booth?"
"Me?" she asked.
He shrugged. "I mean, it would give me the chance to brag about my girlfriend and shit. It's not the whole crew, either. Just Tim, Sam, Jeff, Andy, and Amy."
"Ok," she said, her attention on the cup of coffee she was making. "Guys? How am I supposed to do this now?"
"This?" Braden asked.
"The next step," she said. "I can't go back to Prescord. You heard my dad. That means moving, and before I can change my name, I need to be a resident. That means being there a while. But until I can change my name, I'm still legally 'Ethan,' and I want to just be done with it."
"I don't know," Kate admitted. "We can find out, though."
"Might take longer to change your gender," Braden pointed out. "I think there are some hoops to jump through for that. Like therapy and stuff."
"Surgery?" she asked.
He lifted his hands. "I don't know, baby. I know that between the three of us, we'll figure it out. I also know that Kate and I are both going to help you every step of the way. I think your dad will too. We'll make this work."
"But I don't know what I'm supposed to be doing!" she insisted. "There's no magic button that fixes it. There's a lot of being told no, and then getting sent somewhere else. I don't even know if the Planned Parenthood in Ohio will prescribe my hormones!"
"If they won't, then we'll find someone who will," Braden said, making his way to the bar so he wasn't yelling across
