“Turns out,” I said, grabbing her hand and leading her back into the cabin, “there’s something much more addicting than fighting fires.”

“Who would have known?” she asked, with a teasing smile as she began shimmying out of her fire suit again. We were both sweaty and covered in ash, but as I pushed my own suit away, I realized that neither of us cared.

I pulled her mouth up to mine once more, my hands running over her naked curves, before I sank to my knees in front of her.

“I had a suspicion you’d agree,” I said, my mouth finding her center as her fingers sunk into my hair.

The hours passed like minutes and we spent the entire time wrapped in each other’s arms, our bodies working together to find the pleasure we searched for. Jesse’s body seemed to melt into mine, his lips working over my skin like he owned it.

I welcomed him in, let him possess me in ways I had never allowed others to do. By the time the sun began streaming through the window, we reluctantly parted, knowing it was time to get back to work and find a way out of this cabin.

Part of me never wanted to leave.

We showered and dressed silently, the feel of his touch and kisses lingering on my skin. My body buzzed, alive and on fire for him, seemingly filled with insatiable lust for him. As we moved about the cabin, he stayed close to me, our bodies seeming to sense that we’d be parting soon and yearning for the last threads of touch — a brush of a hand over a shoulder, a kiss on the neck as he slid past me. I looked at him for a moment, then smiled before replying. “I guess the same reason you hit Max.”

He stopped, then started to laugh and shook his head. “Touché.”

I kissed him again and then pulled away. “I did it because you’re fucking irresistible, you bastard!”
