Who I Am With You (Imagination #10) - Staci Stallings Page 0,86

surprise before nodding and putting her hand in his. “Oh. Uh. Sure.”

Taylor knew enough to know that everyone who knew her was watching, wondering, judging. She hoped this wouldn’t be the moment it all came crashing down around her. The song was somewhere between a ballad and a harder rock song though it was one she’d never heard before. There weren’t many people on the dance floor as it wasn’t really a swaying song, nor really a party-with-your-friends type song.

Stepping into Greg’s arms, Taylor let him wrap her all the way into him as her arm went to his shoulder, and her other hand into his wrapped next to the other shoulder. It was strangely intimate and could very well be romantic if she didn’t know better.

“You really do look beautiful tonight,” he said softly so close to her ear, she felt the warmth of his breath.

However, she didn’t have a chance to react to that as stepping one step away, he spun her slowly before coming back around so her hand went around his waist. Catching her hand, he spun her twice more and pulled her back to him.

She grinned up at him. “Hey. When did you get so good at this?”

“Oh, this?” he asked, pushing away with both hands before twirling her backward into him. They swayed like that for several counts, and all of the Alpha Chi drama began to melt away from her. “It’s just a little thing I picked up along the way.” He spun her out, and when she came back, he led her right past his leg, stopped her motion, and drew her down backward across him.

The same feeling she’d had at the dance class took over, like she had no need to worry or help. She could just enjoy his control and let go completely. He brought her back up and spun once, catching her hand behind his back so when she came back around, she came under his arm and spun again before somehow, she was caught up back in his arms.

Someone sent up a whoop, but Taylor had no brain cells free to think about it. She smiled at Greg who was only inches from her, his gaze only on her.

“Nice,” he said, swaying them both.

Words snagged in her throat, as he stopped and dipped her backward away from him even though they were simply standing there. She came back up and shook her head at him as he bounced his eyebrows at her.

“You’re getting really good at this,” she said, and his eyes dropped into seriousness.

“How about this?” He spun her once, stepped past her leg and just like that, she was leaning into him as he held her. A breath, and he went one better and picked her right up off the floor. She kicked her knee backward even as he slid her back down. Coming around, he lifted her opposite hand up and out before doing that with the second hand. When the first came back around, he spun her and laid her back into his arms. Oh, what a feeling!

The cheers were getting more pronounced, but Taylor couldn’t attend to them. For one thing, her gaze was locked on his that was melded to hers. Breaking that gaze was not only unwise because she might miss something, but it was also impossible.

“I wanna take a chance with you,” he sang softly, and she hadn’t even realized there were words. “Yeah, wanna take a chance with you. You…” He spun her slowly and dipped her as the song came to a close. “Yeah.”

It was like living in a slow motion dream, and it took him more than several heartbeats to bring her back up again. She knew that because she could literally feel her heart beating out the seconds it took. She’d never felt it like that before. Then he drew her back up and tucked her into his arms for a solid hug as the room around them erupted in cheers.

Taylor was swirling like the lights at her feet, and then somehow, they were walking off the dance floor together. She needed punch and a fan. Yow. Was it hot in here?

“Tay!” Heather exclaimed, racing over as the entire room surged toward them. “That was… amazing!”

With no warning, Heather hugged her hard, and Taylor lost the link she’d had with Greg.

“Where did you learn to do that?” Heather asked as several other sisters came over to hug Taylor. “You have got to come and teach us
