have your way with me. I’m a sure thing.”

“I don’t want you tipsy.” He drops his gaze again. “I need you fully engaged for what I plan to do to you.”

A little tipsy, I titter at the word engaged and flash my ring at him.

A smile plays over his lips. “Maybe you have had enough.”

The front door opens with a bang and bikers I don’t recognize enter the clubhouse.

Chaser’s hold on me changes from playful to downright possessive.

One biker I finally recognize. Bishop trudges over to us. The few times I’ve met him, he’s been nice to me. Still, he’s a scary guy when he’s focused and coming right at you.

“Hey, Bishop.” Chaser holds out his hand and the two men shake. “Thanks for coming tonight.”

The older biker sweeps his gaze over us and a hint of a smile curves his lips. “I hear we’re celebrating big news tonight.”

“We are.” I pat Chaser’s arms that are wrapped around me so tight, I can barely breathe. “It’s nice to see you again, Bishop.”

He glances over his shoulder. “You two have a minute?”

“Sure.” Chaser’s mentioned more than once that his father needs the two clubs to get along, so I’m willing to do whatever I can to make that happen.

“What’s on your mind, Bishop?” Chaser asks, finally loosening his hold on me.

“I need to be out of town for a few days. Got no idea where Trin’s mom is at. A friend’s watching her now but I don’t trust her there overnight.” He runs his hand over his beard and flicks a gaze toward the chapel. “She seemed to like you a whole lot and—”

My heart melts. “Absolutely. Yes. She can stay with us.”

Chaser gives me a gentle squeeze. Maybe I should’ve checked to make sure he didn’t mind but how could I say no?

“Oh.” My voice falters. “We’re heading back to Los Angeles next week—”

“I’ll be back Tuesday night at the latest,” Bishop says.

“Then, yes.” I peer up at Chaser who shrugs.

“No problem, Bishop,” he adds. “We’re staying at my dad’s house, so she won’t have to hang out here at the clubhouse or anything.”

“Thank you, Chaser.” He glances around the room again. “I wouldn’t normally ask—”

“It’s really not a problem,” I assure him.

“Thank you, honey. I’ll bring her by here tomorrow afternoon. That all right with you?”

“Sure. That’ll give me time to fix up a room for her at the house.”

“You don’t have to go to a lot of trouble. She’s an easy-going kid.” He shoves his hand in his pocket and pulls out his wallet. “I’ll give you some—”

“No, no. You don’t have to pay me. Really, it’s fine. She’s so sweet. I enjoyed hanging out with her.”

He tips his head and stares me down until my mouth snaps shut. I should know better. For a man like Bishop, turning down his offer of money will probably be seen as an insult. I accept the wad of cash he hands me without counting it. Since I have no pockets and I’m not about to stuff it in my bra in front of Bishop, I hold it at my side. “Thank you. Is there anything special she likes to eat?”

His mouth curls into a softer smile—well soft for him. “Lucky Charms, SpaghettiOs—but only with the meatballs. She’s real vocal about that.”

I chuckle, unable to picture it since Trinity had been so recalcitrant when I watched her the last time.

“All right then. Thank you.” He nods to us and walks off, stopping to talk to Chaser’s father and a few other men.

“You’re not mad at me are you?” I ask, turning to face Chaser.

His lips twitch. “Mad? No. More in love with you than ever. Absolutely.”

“Why?”

He wraps his arms around me, resting his hands on my butt and leans in to kiss the tip of my nose. “Because you’re so fucking sweet, even a scary bastard like Bishop knows he can trust you.”

“You really don’t mind?”

“Nah, she’s a sweet kid. Her mom…isn’t the best. I feel bad for Trinity. Besides, Bishop’s the SAA for his club. If he feels all warm and fuzzy toward you, that benefits my club in the long run.”

I glance over at Bishop. He’s a big man. Well over six feet, with leviathan like shoulders that barely fit through the front doors. “I don’t know if warm and fuzzy is a way to describe him.”

“No.” He laughs. “Definitely not. Except when it comes to his daughter.”

Warmth from my earlier drink still has me hot and tingly all
