Diego had the entire room compelled within minutes. As far as they were concerned, I shared the perfect pitch. Graham’s already pale face drained of the rest of its color. He fumbled with his phone for a minute, cursed under his breath, and then mumbled some lame excuse. Without a trace of his usual arrogance, Graham apologized. “I’m sorry, Diego. I had the wrong day in my calendar. It won’t happen again.”

“Why are you here, Graham?” Diego asked. “You’re harassing my mate at every turn. Invading her place of work. Overstepping at the DVM.”

Graham’s nostrils flared, and I stared wide-eyed at the two powerful vamps. “She’s not worthy,” Graham growled.

“That’s rich coming from you,” Diego spat. “The only unworthy person in this room is you. Don’t let your prejudice get you killed, Graham.”
