bedroom, with its dark furniture and huge mahogany bed. “I’ve fantasized about having a four-poster bed since I saw one in a magazine years ago,” she confided as he placed her gently on top of the bedcovers.
Vladimir grinned his satisfaction with his mate’s pleasure. “From this moment on, it will be my greatest pleasure to ensure you have everything you have ever wished for or ever will.”
Tanya sat up to lift and then remove her sweater. “Can you do that disappearing trick with your clothes all the time?”
“I can, yes.” The air shimmered, and he now stood next to the bed, completely naked.
She removed her bra. “Why didn’t you do that last time we slept together?”
He winced. “I didn’t want to alarm you.”
Tanya chuckled. “I can’t wait to see if I can do any, or all, of those things once we’re mated.”
Vladimir moved onto the bed beside her to assist with removing the last of her clothing. “It would be far more convenient if you could, but not essential when I have every intention of the two of us remaining naked for the foreseeable future.”
Tanya laughed, and it thrilled Vladimir as much as it had the last time she had sounded so carefree in her humor.
Then there was no more laughter, only soft sighs and arousal, groans and pleasure, as the two of them kissed and caressed each other as if they never wanted to stop.
“Make me your mate now, Vladimir,” Tanya eventually encouraged breathlessly.
He gazed at her intently, searching for any lingering doubts in her eyes or expression. He found none. Only an unwavering yearning and burning passion.
He cradled her face in his palms. “I love you, Tanya. Not only because you’re my fated mate,” he added firmly. “I love the brave and resilient woman you are. The strong and fierce mate you will become. The warm and protective mother you will one day be to our young. I love you,” he repeated forcefully. “I love you,” he murmured again before kissing her and showing her how deep his emotions were.
Tears glistened in her eyes when she looked at him after the kiss ended. “I love you, Vladimir. Not just as my fated mate. I love you for your fairness and majesty as a man. The strong and fierce mate you will become. The warm and protective father you will one day be to our young. I love you, Vladimir. So very, very much.” She reached up to kiss him slowly and longingly.
Tanya was very aware that the two of them were making their vows to each other. Their human vows, and ones that had nothing to do with the dragon mating but was all about the two of them having fallen in love with each other, completely separate from that.
“Bite your wrist and let me take some of your blood,” she invited when they broke the kiss a second time.
She no longer feared any part of their mating. Not the blood exchange. Not the knotting. Not the future.
She feared nothing and no one with Vladimir at her side, loving her as she loved him.
Their gazes were locked as his cock slid easily inside her before he opened up a vein in his wrist and offered it to her.
Instead of being unpleasant, Tanya discovered Vladimir’s blood tasted like the smoothest and finest red wine.
She could literally feel it flowing into her own body, coursing through her veins, binding the two of them together as she sucked and swallowed that heady succulence. At the same time, she felt a slight piercing sensation at the juncture of her neck, followed by Vladimir’s throaty groan as he sucked and swallowed her blood. It was over a week of fierce lovemaking and deepening love for each other before they returned to St. Petersburg, but it was with Tanya’s slightly smaller and gunmetal-gray dragon flying comfortably beside Vladimir’s black and powerful one.
It was a week during which Vladimir told her many stories about events during the thousand years he had been alive, feeding her love of history.
She and Vladimir now shared a bond in which they thought only of the other’s happiness and comfort.
They could now communicate telepathically.
Her senses were all enhanced, and she was stronger than she’d ever been before.
She could will her clothes away with a single thought.
She could shift into a dragon, as well as shield her presence, both as human and dragon.
But most important of all her discoveries was that devotion she and Vladimir now had toward and with each other.
A devotion Tanya had no doubts would last for their very long lifetime.
