Underworld Bride Trials 1 Playboy King - Meg Xuemei X. Page 0,26

one had dared to correct him.

A cold lump blocked my airway, and I let out a ragged breath. I had to admit that I still feared my father, even though it shamed me to acknowledge my fear and my weakness. But you can’t erase a century of terror in a few months, and Lucifer had terrorized and brutalized me since I was a child.

I’d promised to always be honest with myself. People lie to themselves all the time, and it never did them any good. I also knew this would be the worst time for Lucifer to arrive, since the uprising of the pureblooded archdemons and their clans loomed on the horizon.

I shoved my dark uneasiness down as Mari curled her fingers around mine and squeezed. “My mates, their Dominion army, and I will stand with you, Brother.”

That was what family was about. I swallowed and nodded. “And I’ll defend you to the end of Earth with your demigods, no matter which fuckers try to jump you.”

Just then, a giant demoness rammed her claws into Tessa’s breastbone. My heart lurched, and every muscle in my body clenched with tension and rage.

Mari’s middle finger tapped my chin again. This time, it hurt as she poured her Titan magic into the tap.

“Never show the world your favorite before the trials end,” she warned in a whisper, “unless you want the girl’s premature death.”

I shuddered as my beast rose in fury and fear. The beast and I had one thing in common: we couldn’t bear to lose the ice maiden before we knew her, not when we’d just found her standing in the endless darkness, radiating icy light.

CHAPTER 11

Tessa

Two demonesses swung their arms, one of them aiming her claws at my cheek, intending to gouge it. I was prettier than them, and that pissed them off.

If I let them have their way, they’d go for my eyes next. Being blind wouldn’t be fun.

I ducked. The leading demoness missed my head by a few inches, but she wouldn’t give up easily. She swiped her claws at me again, putting both arms to use.

I managed to duck left and right, occasionally doing a little dance sideways, not to tease the demon chicks but to learn their patterns before I struck back.

I didn’t like to waste my energy. I preferred efficient moves. Short and deadly sweet, so I could move on to my next target.

When my opponent’s claws approached again, I leapt and rammed my boot into her wrist. A cracking sound followed. Her claws went limp as her wrist broke.

“Sorry about that,” I said.

I smashed my fist into her left eye, faster than a thought, and when I pulled back my bloody hand, the demoness rolled on the ground, howling in pain.

Darcy whimpered behind me.

Three demonesses charged me, roaring a terrible cry. I smiled and drilled two of them with each of my fists. As they stumbled, the third swung her arm, but I caught it and dragged her forward, using her momentum to hurl her into the electric fence.

I didn’t need to look back to know the high voltage had turned her into charred meat. The stench was enough.

While the other demonesses stood speechless with their mouths open in shock, watching the electrocution unfold and the unfortunate demoness’ dead body jerk grotesquely, I swept my legs out, leapt, and landed on the massive back of the spitting demoness. My hands grabbed her long horns and twisted them clockwise until her head tore off, cutting off her blood-curdling screams.

I jumped away just in time to avoid her spraying black blood. I hated the smell of it. My victim’s blood splashed over her companions, who froze at the sight.

I might not look big, but I had the Titan King’s blood coursing in my veins. Its power had been diluted after thousands of generations, but it still ran strong in me. That was one of the reasons my ex-mate wanted to take me as his bride when I reached sixteen.

“You want more violence, demon chicks?” I smiled. “I can show you. Buy two get one free.”

I threw the demon head at the nearest demoness. Its horn pierced her neck and protruded out the other side. That demoness gagged, trying to claw the horn out of her throat. Her friend, the last standing demoness in the gang, scrambled away from me.

“You can’t use a weapon, Tessa,” Darcy murmured anxiously. “The gamekeepers will punish you.”

“It wasn’t a weapon; it was a head with two brown horns.”

The cacophony of thousands
