Two Men and a Baby - Isla Olsen Page 0,7

and somewhat unique, with Declan’s nieces and nephews all taking part as flowergirls and flowerboys, fighting over who gets to drop the most petals as they make their way down the aisle. And when Declan and Heath exchange their vows, I, along with everyone else, am smiling from ear to ear.

“You’re the best friend I’ve ever had or ever will have,” Declan says, “and I’m so lucky to have fallen in love with you, to be building a life with you, to grow old with you. I promise to always be truthful with you, to always love you no matter what, and to spend every moment of every day trying to make you as happy as you make me.”

There’s a chorus of awws and I can see a number of people dabbing at their eyes.

Then Heath takes his turn:

“You opened my eyes to things I never even knew I wanted. You’re the most amazing person I know, and falling in love with you was that best thing that ever happened to me. You’re seriously awesome in bed—or not in bed…like pretty much anywhere we do it. I mean, last night in the shower—”

“I think they get the point, baby,” Declan says, his face bright red.

I can’t help sputtering with laughter along with the rest of the crowd.

Heath nods and continues with his vows. “I promise all the things you did. Honesty and loving you and all that crap. And I think that’s pretty much it.”

“Wow, I feel so special,” Dec deadpans.

“Well you didn’t want me to do the other ones I came up with,” Heath says with a shrug.

“What were the other ones?” Declan’s sister Alannah, who’s standing up the front as part of the wedding party, asks.

“Well, it was—”

“There are children here, Heath!” Declan cries, cutting his groom off.

“Why don’t we just move on to the ‘Do you take each other?’ part?” the celebrant suggests.

Later, once we’ve moved into the ballroom for the reception, I find myself waylaid on the way back from the bathroom by the very man I’ve been trying and failing not to think about all day.

“You know, what you were saying last night, about you being fiinnee,” Connor says, affecting what I’m guessing is an impression of drunk me from last night, “I thought maybe you were just saying that because you wanted to be, not because you actually were. But I was watching you during the ceremony before—you’re genuinely happy for them, aren’t you?”

I decide to ignore the butterflies taking flight at the idea he chose to watch me rather than his brother’s nuptials, instead focusing on what he’s actually asking me. “Yeah, of course I am. They’re perfect for each other.”

“Huh. You must be a lot more mature than I am,” he observes. “I broke up with my college girlfriend three years ago and, I mean, I don’t love her anymore or anything, but I definitely wouldn’t want to watch her get married.”

I offer a sympathetic smile. “I think it’s a little different with Dec and me. We’ve been friends since middle school—way longer than we ever dated. And even when we were dating I think it was always more about the familiarity of it all. We stayed together so long because it was comfortable, not because we were truly in love with each other. Definitely not like that,” I say with a nod to the dancefloor, where Declan and Heath are slowdancing to Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud.”

Connor nods. “I think I get it. But explain something to me…” he leans closer toward me, lowering his voice. “If you really don’t have any lingering feelings for my brother, why did you freak out this morning?”

“I didn’t freak out!”

Connor raises a skeptical brow. “Oh, you definitely freaked out. You were like Le Freak c’est chic levels of freaking out.”

I can’t help letting out a little chuckle at that. “Okay, fine. I was just a little surprised is all.”

“And now that you’re not surprised?” he murmurs. “Do you still want to feel my tongue ring against your cock?”

Jesus fuck. I have to swallow hard, my mouth going dry at the mere thought. “I’m not sure if that would be…the best idea,” I manage to get out.

“Sounds like a great idea to me,” Connor says, his mouth quirked up in a sexy smirk.

Before I do something stupid, like shove down my pants and beg Connor to suck me off right here in the middle of the ballroom, we’re interrupted by Brendan.

He shoves a beer into
