we should have done the family thing on a day he wasn’t staying at my place,” I say wryly.

Josh shakes his head in amusement. “Yeah, I’m sure Laura would just absolutely love it if you returned him to her all hopped up and cranky.”

Laura’s having a girls’ night tonight, so it’s a rare weekend day when Chase is actually staying over. But fortunately, even if he turns into a nightmare child tonight, I at least won’t be dealing with it on my own.

A phone rings and for a moment I think it’s mine, but then Josh pulls his out of his pocket. Hmm, we should probably think about changing our ringtones if we’re going to be spending so much time together.

As he answers, I feel a sharp pain on my chin as Chase tugs on a clump of my beard. “Ow! No, buddy, that’s not a stuffed animal.”

But Chase just lets out one of his squeaky little giggles and I decide a tiny bit of pain is well worth it if it’s going to make him happy.

“No, Mom, I haven’t been keeping things from you again,” I hear Josh say in frustration.

Turning to catch his eye, I see him shake his head in annoyance. He tilts the phone away from his mouth to say, “It seems the grapevine has been at work.”

I can’t help letting out a soft laugh. My mom and Josh’s mom have been friends pretty much since they first met at a PTA meeting when Josh and Dec were in middle school, so it’s not surprising that Mom would be on the phone gushing to Rebecca about us the moment we left.

“This isn’t the same thing as the cancer,” Josh says, obviously attempting to placate his mom. After a beat where he’s listening to her response, he rolls his eyes and says, “Well what do you want to know exactly? How about all the positions we’ve done it in?”

Despite the noise of the subway, I can clearly hear Rebecca screeching, “JOSHUA!”

My whole body is shaking with laughter and I have to make sure I have a tight hold of Chase so he doesn’t slip off my lap.

Josh manages to calm his mother down and wind up the call and after he hangs up, he rests his head against my shoulder, clearly drained from the effort.

“It’s just because she loves you, you know,” I tell him.

He lets out a soft sigh. “I know.”

Once we get home Josh helps me to feed and bathe Chase and put him to sleep. It’s definitely more of an effort than I’m used to because, as predicted, he’s overtired and cranky from a big day with my family.

Once he’s finally down, I leave his room with the door slightly ajar and pad out to the living room to find Josh sprawled on the sofa. I lie down across him with my head in his lap and my feet dangling over the arm of the couch, loving the way his hand comes up automatically to thread through my hair.

“You know I never really thanked you for all this,” I tell him.

He offers me a sexy smirk. “Oh, you’ve thanked me. Many times.”

I grin at him “Well, you’re welcome for all that, but that wasn’t really what I meant. When I called you about Chase you just dropped everything and came to help me.”

“You needed me,” he says with a shrug. Narrowing his eyes, he adds, “And don’t think for a second you owe me some kind of payback for it. I know you’d have done the same for me in a heartbeat.”

I let out a breath of laughter. “If you’d called me to say you suddenly had a kid to take care of I’d have been no help.”

“You know what I mean,” he says with an affectionate smile. “If I’d needed you for something, you’d have been there.”

“I always will be,” I tell him with complete sincerity.

He nods. “I know.”

The loud, rumbling groan Connor lets out as I take his cock to the back of my throat is all the encouragement I need to keep going with this blowjob. Not that I really planned to stop anyway…

He’s so responsive; every touch, every kiss, every little swipe of my tongue has him losing control and I’m not going to lie, it’s a bit of an ego boost to know I’m the one making him fall apart like this. Spurred on by his reaction, I decide to take things further; I let his cock fall from
