“Is that why you were waiting to tell them about Chase?” Josh asks as he reads through the family chat on my phone. “Because you thought you might need the distraction?”

“Possibly,” I say with a teasing smile. Yeah, it was totally why I didn’t tell anyone about Chase, and you can thank the twins for that little tactic—bombard them with information and they won’t know where to look. Genius. “If it helps, there wasn’t really the big uproar I think you were expecting. I mean, I think my mom might be a little disappointed but that’s mainly because she expects me to marry the mother of my child like a good little Catholic boy.”

Josh lets out a sputter of laughter, his hazel eyes glinting with amusement. “Yeah, that’s very true.”

After dinner we decide to head back to Josh’s place. There’s brief talk about going somewhere for a drink first, but let’s face it, we both know what we want to be doing right now and it’s not sitting in a bar drinking.

When we get inside Josh’s apartment, there’s no discussion whatsoever about what’s about to happen. We don’t need one. Instead, I simply tug him toward me and slam my lips against his, kissing him hard and hungrily.

He kisses me back eagerly, his hands coming up to grip at my hair, pulling me further down against him. I sneak my tongue into his mouth, letting out a groan as the kiss deepens.

I walk him backward until he’s pressed right up against the closed door of his apartment, caging him in with my body. He yanks at my coat, shoving it off my shoulders and down to the ground, and I do the same for him. Then go the sweaters and
