jealous rage!”

She glared at us. “Why don’t you just answer the question?” Corrine snapped.

“What’s going on?” Chloe asked, looking between us. “I thought you were joking. Please tell me you’re joking.”

“It’s a joke to me,” I responded.

“I’m not a joke and I’m not jealous or crazy or whatever else you’re trying to make me into,” Corrine spat angrily. “I just hate being lied to and I hate games.” She looked at Omar who was looking at her like she grew another head. “I hate it.”

“Your sister has had too much to drink,” I said through clenched teeth. “It doesn’t seem she knows how to play the game.”

“Just admit it, Simone!” She threw up her arms. “Just admit what you did!”

I cocked my head to the side. “What is it that you’re trying to accuse me of?”

“I asked him where he was that night and he denied it. I asked you and you didn’t have a chance to deny it—I saw it all over your face. I just think it’s pretty shitty of you to do that. I know you didn’t want Chloe to know, but I think my sister deserves to know what kind of friend you are. You barely even talked to him this weekend, but because Chloe wanted me to get to know him, you wanted to stake your claim? Is that why you did it?”

Someone said, “Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.”

But my eyes were trained on the oldest Park sister and her drunken meltdown.

“Just admit you did it! I heard you through the wall, so I already know that you did it. I honestly just want to know the reason why! Please explain it to me…explain it to all of us. Because your friends deserve to know what kind of low-life backstabbing bitch you are.” Her speech was slightly slurred, but her eyes were laser focused on me. “If you knew Chloe was trying to set me up with him, why would you fuck him?”

Wow.

I didn’t say anything. There was some truth to what Corrine was saying. She was a complete bitch for doing it like that, but I couldn’t act like I had no idea where her hysteria was coming from.

“Wait what? What are you saying?” Chloe questioned, confusion twisting her face. And then as if something clicked for her, she turned toward me and pointed. “You fucked him?”

I rose to my feet. “Chloe, if we could go and talk—”

She let out a ferocious scream. “Is it true?”

“If we can just—”

“Is it true, Simone?! Did you—”

“Yes, it’s true,” I interrupted, wishing I’d talked to her after the bathroom. “But listen—”

“I asked you if anything was going on between the two of you and you denied it,” she seethed.

“Can we talk about this? I didn’t want to upset you on your wedding day and—”

“You lied to me!”

“No, I didn’t,” I argued as calmly as possible. “You asked me what was going on between us right after we got off the boat. I said nothing was going on because nothing was going on at that time,” I explained.

“It doesn’t matter when it happened because you kept it from me. And the only reason you kept it from me was because you knew it was wrong.” Chloe’s face crumpled. “But as my friend, one of my best friends, why did you let something happen after you knew I had a plan in place? What kind of friend does that? I asked you to just leave him alone so I can see if anything happens with my sister. If you didn’t want to do that, that’s all you had to say! And for you to fuck him in the room right next to hers? How fucking selfish!” She clapped her hands dramatically. “Class act.”

“Come on now,” Kingston chimed in. “This is ridiculous. You were trying to set someone up without their knowledge or permission, so when things don’t go the way you plan, you can’t get mad about it. And you can’t blame anyone for how they feel.”

I appreciated him coming to my defense, but I shook my head slightly. It wasn’t the time for him to jump in—although he had a very valid point.

“I can’t believe you,” Chloe said to me before bursting into tears and running toward the resort.

Dom picked up the bag from the sand. “I don’t know if we’re coming back out. I’ll text you if we do,” he said before running to catch up with his wife.

“I, for one, am not mad about you and Kingston knocking boots,” Tisha
