Texting With the Enemy (Digital Dating #1) - Marika Ray Page 0,34

“And your adorable charm, and the way you really listen to people.” I was leaning in closer and closer, not really intending to but unable to stop myself. “You’re incredible.” With that final statement, I closed the rest of the distance between us, pausing just long enough for her to step away if she wanted to.

Instead, her arms went around my neck, and she pressed the length of her perfect soft body to me as her lips found mine.

Don’t freak out, don’t freak out, don’t freak out.

Ohhhh . . . he’s good at this.

Boston tugged at my bottom lip, as if asking permission to keep going with the best kiss I’d ever participated in. I let my lips say yes and then I forgot everything else. The butterfly dragons in my stomach turned to a liquid warmth that permeated every square inch of my body. His hands tugged me closer and soon I had the full length of him pressed against me. A solid wall of muscle I wanted to see. Wanted to feel. Wanted to touch.

One of his hands came up to cup my jaw, sliding across the nape of my neck and I full body shivered against him with the pleasure his touch brought. Then he was angling my head to take the kiss further and all I could do was hang on for the ride and hope I didn’t pass out from sensory overload.

“Oh, sorry, dude.”

I gasped against his lips, and Boston pulled back just enough to glance over his shoulder.

“Ignore him,” he whispered, coming back to ghost across my lips.

But the spell had been broken. We were in his mother’s winery. All of our friends and family were in the next room. Dalton wasn’t the only one who could walk in on us at any second. I pulled back and gave Boston a shy smile. His thumb stroked up and down my throat and I wasn’t sure if my voice would even work.

“We, um, should probably . . . ”

The side of his mouth tipped up and in a motion so slow I found myself mesmerized, Boston grinned from ear to ear. Gone was the CEO who frowned so hard I worried for his future migraines. In his place was a man smitten with a woman. With me.

“Go on a date with me, El,” Boston said. His tone made it clear it wasn’t a question, but I knew he was too much of a gentleman to force me. And who was I kidding? No forcing was necessary.

I nodded quickly, knowing neither wild horses nor intrusive parents couldn’t keep me away from him. “Definitely.”

He dipped his head and kissed me quickly this time, finally removing his hands from my body and stepping back. He reached behind me and grabbed a bottle of white wine off the rack.

“Your mom liked this one,” he said simply, putting his hand on my lower back and walking us back toward the saloon doors. My steps were firm but my heart tumbled in my chest, seeing how he was taking care of my mom. I had to be careful with this one. He could make me fall head over heels if I wasn’t careful.

Dalton stood on the other side of the doors, the costume’s pig head lying on the bar and a knowing smile aimed our way. “Thought you two got lost back there,” he said loudly enough for our mothers to hear.

Boston leaned over him with a look I wouldn’t want to be on the receiving end of. My cheeks heated at Dalton’s implication and I hurried to do some chore that wasn’t necessary but would keep my hands busy. Eventually everyone trickled out the door, Mom pulling me into a fierce hug before assuring me she had ubered here but that Lincoln had agreed to take her home. I smiled gratefully at Boston’s brother as they left, and it was time to officially close up.

Pam waived us away, saying she’d lock up. I think she just wanted Boston and I to have some alone time together in the dark parking lot, but I wasn’t going to complain about that. I wouldn’t mind a repeat kiss. Boston waited until the door closed and then he snatched my hand in his, lacing our fingers together and walking me to my car.

“See you tomorrow?” he asked after he’d opened my car door for me.

I glanced down at my high-heeled wedges. “I think I have to go with flats tomorrow or I
