Tattooed Troublemaker - Elise Faber Page 0,61
expression softened when he glanced at the love of my life, and it was easy to see why. One look at Charlie and any idiot could see the happiness radiating off her. Some was from me, from us. The rest . . . was from her. From her decision to begin living six months before.
She pouted in Tig’s direction. “I haven’t had much time to play kissy-face with Garret lately.”
“And who’s fault is that?”
Charlie stuck out her lip. “My professors?”
Tig shook his head. “Nice try.”
My girl was still a plumber, but she’d transitioned to more of the part-time variety about four months ago, after her grandmother had finally passed on. The bulk of the estate she’d been left had been passed to the charities Charlie had wanted, but it appeared that her grandmother wasn’t prepared to let my girl win every battle. She’d left Charlie a trust, one that could only be used for education.
Of course, Charlie would have still left that sitting in an account, festering, if I hadn’t found the books when we’d moved in together and confronted her.
She’d admitted that she’d wanted to go back to school for a while.
And I’d convinced her to use the money.
With orgasms.
Snorting, I plunked Charlie back into her chair, then stripped off my gloves, donned new ones, and prepared to go again.
“Fine,” she grumbled at Tig. “It’s my fault.”
Tig smiled. “Glad you finally realized that I’m always right and you’re always wrong.”
Delia’s laughter trilled up at us from the storeroom.
Charlie and I glanced at each other, both biting back grins.
Then she leaned forward, placing her arm on the stand again, shirt gaping open. No, I hadn’t developed shame or slyness in the last six months, and so my eyes dipped down.
“You’re thinking about something dirty again?” she murmured.
“You sure you want to finish this?” I asked, voice husky. “I still have a key to upstairs.”
Her fingers trailed across the V of her exposed chest. “You’re the one who’s been pestering me.” She bit her lip.
My cock went hard.
Her eyes dipped this time.
I shook my head to clear it. She grinned.
And this was why the tattoo wasn’t finished.
“Trouble,” I muttered.
“I love you,” she said brightly.
And just that easily, my heart lived outside my body, sitting so exposed and vulnerable in the palm of her hand.
But just like she always did, Charlie treated it with care.
She leaned forward, pressed a light kiss to my lips, and sat back. “Finish this tonight, and we can do the thing with the whipped cream again.”
Not helping my hard ass cock situation, but the promise did get me to focus back on the job at hand. I nodded, flicked on the gun, and began to lower the needle toward her arm.
My phone rang.
I planned to ignore it, but Charlie glanced over at the screen and frowned. “It’s Darian,” she said.
Her downstairs neighbor. Our downstairs neighbor.
She picked up my cell, swiped at the screen, put him on speaker . . . and that was when he told us about the burst pipe in our apartment.
