Taming London (Warwick Dragons #1) - Milly Taiden Page 0,22

were the color of glimmering rubies, and they shone in the moonlight. With a few flaps of his powerful wings, London was in the air, soaring ever higher to heights that would make the most avid pilot sick. He let himself go way above the canopy of clouds. He closed his eyes, letting the cool wind soothe his mind.

At least his dragon was busy exerting itself. First flying higher and higher, then diving at neck-breaking speeds, only to launch up again. It felt so freeing to be in his dragon form. As time wore on, his dragon began to fly around in leisure. It was then that London noticed what the clever—yet traitorous beast—was doing.

His dragon was convincing him to date Bethany.

And London was buying into it.

We can do this, the creature purred and cooed. She’s our mate, and we naturally know how to please her. Even if we have been a relentless flirt and a hatefully promiscuous dick. We can make her ours and take care of her. Wouldn’t it be nice? Laying down next to Bethany every night?

London had to admit that his dragon was making quite a few valid points. It would be nice to go to bed with Bethany. He could only imagine what it would be like to grip her full hips as he pumped in and out of her.

No, you cock, his dragon roared, spitting fire against the inky night sky. It’s not just the sex we want. We want a life with her.

London grumbled. That was so very domestic, and he didn’t know that he could do that. He was positive he would only fuck it up. Royally.

Sex? That he could do. Well, too. But more emotional stuff? Yikes. He shuddered to even think about it. After all, he had been born and raised in a different time, when men were reared to be stoic. Back then, emotions, even positive ones, had been nothing more than a distraction. Something that could get you killed in the battlefield. London didn’t know how to feel things anymore. Not on a deep level, anyway.

You’re an idiot. It’s simple. Just let the feeling happen. Don’t fight against it. You like Bethany. Let that sink in, and stop overthinking things, or I will have to start calling you Paris.

Now there was a truth. His brother, every bit the artist he was, had a knack for overanalyzing every single thing. It had been tedious to live with him because of it. London was flat out refusing to be as tiresome as his brother.

Spend all of the time you have with Bethany using your charms to get to know her. Make sure she knows the better version of you. You’ll have of hard time of it because of how you chose to introduce yourself that first time.

London was filled with shame. He had asked her to ride his dick, and now he had to backtrack. He had seriously hurt his chances of Bethany ever liking him. Johanna often said that he was his own biggest enemy, and his own worst obstacle to happiness.

She was right.

He flew around and around, letting his thoughts race as he decided what the best course of action was. He had to be sure that he was ready for his mate, and all of that implied—a lifetime with the same woman.

But it was Bethany, and he was all right with that. If anything, the small amount of time they had spent together, he had seen that there was a fire inside of her. He doubted he would ever be bored with her around.

Was he ready to maybe have a few tykes running around?

It would be fun to show a few kids how to fly for the first time. London had had a great father, and he missed him terribly. Maybe being a father—and a bloody good one—would make him feel closer to the great man he had lost. And those kids would be half Bethany, if he got so lucky. He could only hope that their children would have their mother’s intelligence and no-nonsense attitude.

The life that was being built in London’s imagination as his dragon flew around the night sky was something to cherish.

His mind was made up.

London fluttered down as if he were a dainty butterfly and not a huge mythical beast who could destroy an entire village with a well-aimed blow of his fire breath. He gathered up his clothes and slipped them back on before taking a seat in his car. He
