Taming the Carefree Billionaire - Marie Higgins Page 0,47
on top.
During the drive, they held hands while talking about their families. He loved the way she smiled at him as he told her about his childhood. She appeared to hang on his every word. A few times, his thoughts stalled and all he wanted to do was take her in his arms and kiss her passionately. For those few moments, she had distracted him by asking him another question. He hoped she would let him kiss her as he’d been dreaming about doing all this time.
When the limo stopped, Thomas snapped back to reality. He’d forgotten about the wonderful night he had planned for Morgan. She glanced out the window and gasped before swinging her gaze to him.
“What are we doing at the airport?”
“My jet is ready to take us to San Diego.”
“What for?”
He grinned. “Well, not only do they have the best French restaurant, but I have another great surprise for after dinner that I know you’ll love.”
She narrowed her gaze on him. “Oh, I don’t like surprises. You’d better tell me now.”
Laughing, he climbed out of the car when Antonio opened the door. Thomas took Morgan’s hand and helped her out. He tucked her hand around his arm. “I’m sorry, my sweet Morgan, but I love surprises. I promise you won’t be disappointed.”
She tugged on his arm, stopping him from moving toward the jet. “Thomas, you don’t have to do this.” She motioned toward the jet. “I don’t need fancy things. I’ve lived without them this long, I’ll be fine without it. Besides, I know a cozy restaurant not far—”
Thomas touched his finger to her mouth. Her warm breath blew on his finger. “Morgan, please. Let me do this. I want to spoil you.”
“Why?”
He stroked her cheek. “Because you deserve it. I’ve never met a woman like you before, and well... I want to enjoy this night for as long as I can.”
Her smile softened. “Thank you, Thomas.” She nodded toward the jet. “Proceed.”
He hoped she would say the same words to him when he kissed her tonight. The wait would kill him.

Morgan didn’t know what was more amazing. Was it riding inside a limo for the first time or flying in a billionaire’s personal jet? He had so many appetizers for them to munch on, however, he said he would never eat chocolate candy again. She’d definitely have to ask him about that. But, the French restaurant he’d taken her to was the first fancy establishment she’d ever entered. Thankfully, she had some money to buy this dress for tonight. Nothing in her closet would come close to looking elegant in this kind of place.
Tonight was also the first time she’d ever eaten gourmet French food, and she even liked it. He’d ordered wine, of course, and explained that this restaurant bought their wine from Powers’ Enterprises. Of course, she’d already figured that.
Although the waiters treated both of them like royalty, she wondered if they knew exactly how much money Thomas really had. Then again, most of the people eating in this place looked as wealthy as Thomas.
Another thing that amazed her tonight was how attentive Thomas was. He was the perfect gentleman – opening doors for her, and here at the restaurant, pulling out her chair. Either Thomas had a split personality, or he was acting differently around her. But why? The two women she’d witnessed him dating – the one at the casino, and the other at the Greenery – he hadn’t acted this sweet with those women. Why had he changed?
When he asked for the check, she had another surprise. She’d expected him to continue holding her hand from across the table and gazing into her eyes for another hour, but he seemed to be in a hurry to leave. Whatever the surprise was, they stayed open past ten o’clock at night.
He escorted her out of the restaurant with his arm around her waist. She rather liked being this close to him. He smelled so incredibly good tonight. She already had his scent branded in her memory.
Another limo had picked them up at the airport and was their means of transportation while in San Diego. Once they were seated on the black cushioned leather seats, he slid an arm around her shoulders and pulled her against him. She turned slightly and rested her hand on his chest, staring into his dreamy eyes.
“Are you enjoying yourself so far this evening?” he asked.
By the grin on his face, she realized he already knew the answer.
