Taming the Carefree Billionaire - Marie Higgins Page 0,40

Morgan driving his bikes, and yet, he’d never let any of his other friends take one out for a spin.

Her face lit up, making her eyes sparkle like emerald gems.

“Are you serious?” she gasped. “But... it’s late.”

“A few miles north of my house, there is a good stretch of road that doesn’t have much traffic. I know you want to.” He waggled his eyebrows. “Take your pick.” He didn’t have to ask which one she was going to choose. The way she stared at his favorite bike told him all he needed to know.

“Are you coming with me?” She looked at him.

“As I said, I’m not really much of a driver, I prefer my sports cars.”

“You’ll come with me then,” she said, straddling the BMW S1000RR and patting the space behind her.

Laughing, Thomas helped her push it out of the garage. He grabbed the key that was hanging on the wall and handed it to her.

“We need two helmets.”

He turned to the shelf on the wall and withdrew two, giving one to her. “Are you sure you can handle this baby?”

“Oh, yes.” She placed the helmet on before sliding the key in the ignition.

As he watched her face, his heart swelled. She looked like a kid in a candy shop. It surprised him that he couldn’t stop admiring her pretty face. He’d been out with several beautiful women, and after a few hours, he was tired of looking at them. But Morgan was very different, and he found he never wanted to stop looking at her.

The bike’s engine revving echoed in the night, disturbing the stillness. She looked at him and motioned with her head.

He couldn’t refuse her even though he still was unsure about riding a motorcycle. But he slid on his helmet and climbed behind her, wrapping his arms around her waist. Then again... maybe he would be comfortable after all.

“Don’t hurt me,” he told her over the sound of the revving engine.

“Just hold on tight and don’t fall off.”

She put the bike in gear and off they zoomed down the driveway. She stopped at the gated entry, and Thomas quickly punched in some numbers on his phone and the gate opened for them to leave.

“Turn up the street and keep following the road.” He pointed in the direction he wanted her to go.

She nodded and gunned it. The wind blew against them. Thomas leaned up closer to her to keep her hair from whipping him in the face. He kept his arms snug around her waist. The warmth of her body against his felt better than he thought it would. He fought the urge to kiss her neck since it was so close to his face. She smelled so good.

MORGAN COULDN’T BELIEVE she was driving the bike of her dreams... and she was literally in a fantasy world because things like this just didn’t happen to her. The bike was heavy, but she could still handle it. Thomas’ strong arms wrapped around her waist shot warmth throughout her body. She couldn’t fall for his charm because he would surely break her heart. Now that he knew her weakness, she needed to guard her heart well.

She stopped at the top of the hill that overlooked a good part of the city, and turned off the engine. She removed her helmet, and Thomas followed her actions. Twinkling lights, like fireflies, covered the scene below them. It was surreal – almost as surreal as being in Thomas’ arms as she leaned against him while they gazed across the valley.

Morgan sighed. “It’s breathtaking up here.”

“Yes, but you are more breathtaking.”

Thomas leaned closer as he pushed her hair over one shoulder and his face dropped toward her neck. His warm lips brushed the crook of her neck. Tingles pulsed through her and she bit her tongue to keep from releasing a pleasurable sigh.

Closing her eyes, she fought the feelings growing inside her. Thomas was a charming man and he knew it. She was sure he also knew how her body was melting right now. But she couldn’t allow this weakness to overwhelm her. He was still a carefree billionaire, and he was used to getting everything he wanted. But she couldn’t let him just take her. He had to earn her respect first.

“Do...” She cleared the tightness out of the voice. “Do you want to drive? I could help you.”

“No,” he responded in a deep voice as he cuddled her closer, “I’d rather sit here just like this. It’s too comfortable to
