and I were each taking turns nibbling on a piece of lapsi titaura candy, savoring the unusual but tasty sweet and sour flavor.
“Mmm wanna know the best part of being on a secret honeymoon?” Kat asked between bites.
“What’s that?”
“We don’t have to drag home a shitload of souvenirs for everyone.” I pointed out a couple of interesting looking shops on the other side of the street and we crossed to that side. She asked, “What made you pick here, anyway? You never did tell me the reason.”
I smiled, nipped off another bite of the candy in her hand. “It might have something to do with the first three letters of the city’s name.”
“K-A-T. Awww, no really? Is that why?”
“Of course it’s why.”
“Huh, you’re just trying to one-up me in the creative department. I’m the one who suggested the secret spontaneous honeymoon in the first place and now you have to one-up me by being all cool with picking out Kathmandu, Nepal. You realize what this means, don’t you?”
“You humbly and politely accept defeat?”
“Annnnd you know me not at all! I will find a way to top your top.”
Suddenly she stopped walking and pulled her phone out of her pocket. “Hold on, someone’s texting me. She read it and then laughed, read it again.
“What is it?” I asked.
She handed me the phone so that I could read.
Mia: Adam just let me know that he talked to you both about your new jobs! CONGRATS!!! Girl, you owe me huge. Which is why you and your hubby are now fully obligated to come to our skiing retreat in December. I’m planning on all our friends being there and it’s going to be EPIC. We got an amazing place…. So you’re coming, right? Yes. Yes, you are.
Kat and I looked at each other and laughed again. And after sharing another bite of candy and a subsequent sticky kiss I sincerely wondered how it could ever get more epic than this.
Keep an eye out for the next adventure in the Gaming The System series. A Love, Actually-style romp featuring a ski retreat holiday adventure with the couples you love so well, including Adam, Mia, Jordan, April, William, Jenna, Lucas, Katya and Heath.
