My body thumps with one giant heartbeat at the brazen proposition, but all I really want to do is backtrack to the moment before his psycho of a sister stormed in wielding both deep-fried donuts and her deep-fried accusations, all the way to those sweet words that were streaming through his beautiful lips.

“Those things you said”— my voice hitches and I clear my throat demanding that I pull it together—“were you just saying that to get laid?” My voice is a little sharper than intended, but I’ll go with it for now.

“No,” he says it back just as sharp.

“And so you want something with me?” I shout over at him as if we were at war, and my chest bucks. “You know, outside of tormenting those idiots who thought seeking higher ground in one another’s pants was a bright idea?” I bark at him as if I were a drill sergeant. I’m heaving as if I’ve run a circle around campus naked, and at the moment that doesn’t sound like a bad idea.

“Yes!” he roars in my face.

“Why are we yelling?” I thunder back. “Is it going to take an act of God or Congress to get you to be nice to me? I am not that blonde ho bag who did the nasty behind your back!”

“I don’t know why we’re yelling.” His voice tapers off and his lips twitch just this side of a dirty grin. “But a part of me likes you all riled up.”

I snatch him by the shirt and pull him in hard and bring his mouth inches from mine. “I’ll show you riled up.”

“Yeah?”

“Yeah! In fact, I’ll shut you up for good with my secret weapon!” I pull him in by the back of the neck and crash his lips to mine. It turns out my secret weapon is my mouth, and I intend on using it to keep Knox moaning and groaning with pleasure until he splatters all over the ceiling. Well, not really, but you get the picture.
