to somehow avoid wanting to jump Jet Ryder while his beautiful and hypnotic voice sang along side me. I was so incredibly into him, even when he would act smug and conceited.

“You need to stop biting your lip, you’re messing up your gloss,” Calvin sighed, stopping me in my tracks and delicately grabbing a hold of my chin to apply more.

“Thanks,” I mumbled while he rolled the cool ball along my bottom lip.

“That’s what I’m here for. Now, let’s talk about your plans after the show.” He took my hands and lead me to a chair. “Seems you always tell me your going to bed, but then you end up in a room with Jet Ryder.”

“That’s not always true,” I defended.

He glared at me, and my shoulders sagged.”Okay, you’re right. Maybe you should stay with me tonight?”

Calvin smirked. “I think you should just bang his brains out.”

“You know I can’t do that.”

His grin grew broader. “I think you could manage.”

He held both of my hands. “You’re not scheduled to do any other dates with them, and for all you know, this could be your last chance to connect with him, and if there isn’t a connection, then that was that.”

“Calvin, you know I shouldn’t.”

“I know what you’re worried about, but you can decide what you want to do after you have a night with him.”

I swallowed, resisting the urge to touch my face. I always ran my hands along my chin or forehead when I was stressed or unsure. It was terrible for my complexion and would really mess up my make up.

Calvin let go of my hands and began fiddling with my curls. “Right now, you need to go rock that crowd of metal heads, and show them just what Raina Skye has to offer.”

Sucking in a big breath of air, I nodded. “You’re right. I need to channel my inner goddess and go kill it, even if I want to rip the clothes off of the guy I’m singing with.”

Calvin giggled. “I’m more of a muscle lover. Chase could have his way with me, if he were ever interested.”

I laughed and stood, giving myself one last look over in the mirror. I was wearing a white, glittery body suit that exposed my thighs and legs, with matching heels. The scoop around the neck was low and wide, cutting out my shoulders, but covered down my arms and to my wrists. It wasn’t my favorite outfit, because if I moved just the right way, the material would ride up and my butt would hang out. I missed the chick look I had in the beginning of my career.

“God, you’ve got great legs,” Calvin sighed, looking over my shoulder.

I smiled. “It’s that damn fitness instructor.”

Calvin grinned. “He is very good.”

We both laughed. Calvin was promiscuous, and found love in all places.

A knock came on the door, and it was a member of my security. “It’s time, Ms. Skye.”

“Kill it, girl,” Calvin encouraged, following behind me.

“Yes,” I said confidently. “This is what I do. I’m ready.”

While we walked backstage, I could hear the roar of Addicts Unite’s fans while they played the song before it was my turn to join them.

Goosebumps formed on my arms when I heard Jet’s voice, and I was thankful for my sleeves covering my skin. He was so talented with his vocal ranges. One moment he was roaring into the microphone like a death metal god, then the next he’d be belting out notes that hit right in your soul.

A stagehand held my crystal beaded microphone in front of me, giving me a wink. “You got this, Raina.” I thanked him, staring at the jewels in awe. They weren’t always real. When I first started, I had glued fake rhinestones all over the base of the microphone, loving how sparkly they made it. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I’d make it this big. That I would be singing alongside a band who’d broken so many record sales and YouTube hits that they’d seem to be unstoppable.

The lights lowered, and the stagehand, gave me a wink, holding his hand for me to make my entrance up the small set of stairs. My adrenaline rushed through my veins, one last deep breath cleansing me for my performance. This opportunity was best for me, in my eyes, not necessarily for Addicts Unite, and I was ready to gain the new ban of followers. I had to show them a unique sound, and that I wasn’t just
