Stars Over Alaska (Wild River #4) - Jennifer Snow Page 0,50

friends? Wannabes that might resent your success?” There had to be someone out there who wasn’t genuinely happy for Selena. Professional jealousy was rampant in Hollywood.

“There were a couple of extras from the set of my last movie, mean-girl types who would snicker and talk shit off camera... Nothing worth getting them kicked off set for, just petty insults about my acting or wardrobe, that kind of thing.”

That was a start, even if not a great one. “Have you seen them since filming ended?”

Selena shook her head. “I know one of them moved to Atlanta to see if she’d have better luck in the industry there. Less competition and less expensive to survive while trying to break in.”

Leslie made a note to confirm that. “Her name?”

“Alison Gray.”

“What about the other one?”

“I heard her tell her agent that she’d decided to go into nursing.” Selena shrugged. “I’m sorry, Leslie, but I don’t know of any enemies.”

Huh. So Hollywood wasn’t as cutthroat as she’d assumed. At least not for Selena Hudson.

“Okay, let’s move on to ex-boyfriends.” Seemed more likely than a jealous female costar anyway. Women were more likely to slander one another on social media than exhibit the violence displayed by the stalker.

Selena rattled off the names of A-list stars that Leslie barely recognized, but she made a list of all of them. Twelve in total. Not great. But not a horrible place to start. “Okay, we need to do some stalking of our own. Come with me.”

They left the room and a second later, knocked on Levi’s office door. He opened it, holding a parachute in one hand and a sewing needle in the other. “Everything okay?” His dark eyes full of concern had Leslie’s heart racing. He’d never know how grateful she was that he’d been at the resort and had stepped in to help them—probably because she wasn’t going to tell him. She’d made the mistake of letting her guard slip momentarily the night before, that wouldn’t be happening again.

She just needed to survive this nightmare, keeping things cool and casual between them and pushing the memory of his kiss out of her mind. Easier said than done as she stared at his lips right now, irrationally tempted by them.

He caught her stare and cleared his throat.

“Everything’s fine,” she said quickly.

“Are you sewing?” Selena asked.

Levi’s cheeks flushed a little. “Yeah...well, not really. Repairing the parachutes... It’s part of the job.”

“That’s actually really hot,” Selena said.

Oh Jesus. “Can we use your computer?” Leslie asked briskly.

“Oh, sure...” He moved away from the door and Leslie headed straight to the laptop on the desk. “Password?”

His cheeks got even redder. He set the parachute down on the sofa and approached the laptop. “I’ll do it.”

Couldn’t fault him for that. “We also need access to your social media accounts.”

“For?”

“To cyber-stalk my exes,” Selena said, sitting on the edge of the desk.

Levi turned to look at Leslie for clarification.

“What she said.”

“Okay... Which site do you want? Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter?”

Selena looked at him as though he were still in the dark ages. “Insta and TikTok.”

“What the hell is TikTok?” he asked.

Leslie didn’t know either, but she waited for Selena to tell Levi he was out of touch.

“We will create a profile for you,” Selena said, obviously eager to get her hands on the computer and get online again. She forced Leslie out of the way and sat at the desk, then opened the page to create an account.

“Username... HotSmokejumper27...”

“Seriously?”

“What? He is hot,” Selena said. She smiled up at Levi before adding, “I’ll use my name as the password.”

Leslie’s back teeth clenched. So what if Selena was flirting with him? What did she care? Her impulsive actions the night before had nothing to do with actually being attracted to Levi. That would be insanely ridiculous. They’d been the result of stress and high emotions, and foolishly letting him get to her with memories of the past. She was not attracted to him. Not at all.

Then why couldn’t she stop staring at the muscular forearms folded across his chest?

He glanced at her and she looked away quickly. She had to quit getting caught checking him out.

“All set,” Selena said. “Now we can search...”

Leslie sat next to her and Levi hovered behind them. “Can we even see their profiles if we don’t ‘friend’ them?”

“Yes. TikTok is more of a performance app. People doing karaoke routines and dance numbers, the flip the switch challenge...” Selena waited for either of them to clue in. When they didn’t, she continued. “Anyway,
