pissed. “I want in on this.”
Dominic stepped behind his mate and wrapped his arms around her, settling his hands on her round belly. “Oh, no. You, my little witch, will stay here and protect my girls.”
Lilly looked up at Dom over her shoulder and melted against him. “Okay,” she whispered before he pressed their lips together. Gregor caught Tessa staring at the couple. He knew she felt guilty for not being pregnant already, but he had assured her more than once it would happen if it were meant to.
Chapter Two
The flight to New Mobile, Alabama, was quick. When they touched down, Gregor, Tessa, and several males were waiting. Tamian had explained Dominic Dubois was the leader of their Clan in the southern portion of the States. If Tamian hadn’t already told Remy about the male’s penchant for dressing as a pirate, he would probably have laughed. But the look truly fit the roguish male instead of making him look like a character out of an old black-and-white film. Remy wasn’t surprised to see Tessa standing alongside Gregor. He had met the female several times and had heard her story. Not only did she have Gregor as a mate, but Tamian was her clone, and there was no female on the planet more guarded in that moment. It didn’t hurt that she was a badass in her own right.
Dominic stepped forward and introduced himself and the two males with him. Sully and Fallon were dressed in black military pants and boots. Unlike their leader, they appeared ready for battle. Remy didn’t let Dom’s clothing fool him. The male was a Gargoyle, so his appearance had no bearing on his ability to fight. They piled into two vehicles. One was a large SUV, and the other was a transport van.
Tamian had loaded several of the Clan’s specially coated swords, including a smaller one for his sister. Remy grinned to himself, thinking Dominic probably had more experience with a sword than any of them. He had been a real pirate many years ago, so a sword was necessary for his swashbuckling days. Then again, Remy had been a soldier in The Napoleonic Wars, so maybe not.
Henry wasn’t certain who was with Craven, but they all decided he would be surrounded by both Gargoyles and Unholy. Surprisingly, Tamian handed Tessa a holster and two powerful-looking black handguns. When she caught him looking, Tessa explained they weren’t taking any chances. Yep, badass.
Henry didn’t say how exactly he found Craven, and Remy didn’t want to know, especially if it was somehow illegal. All that mattered was getting the human off the streets. Upon reaching the forest, they parked well away from where Craven was supposed to be. Tamian handed out communication devices to everyone. Julian had perfected the small earpieces, and they transmitted from a few miles away. Tamian was leading one team, which included Dominic and his males. Gregor led the other. He, Tessa, and Remy were coming in from the south, while Tamian’s team came in from the north. After they went over the plan once more, Tamian and his team took off their shirts so they could shift. The De Soto Forest had been abandoned for the most part, as had most of the smaller parks around the country. If there were humans in the area, they wouldn’t be in the dense portion where Craven was hiding out.
Since Tessa couldn’t fly, their team remained on the ground. The female surprised Remy with her stealth. Her normal chatty self was replaced by a determined warrior. Remy had been surprised to see her with the others. If that had been Isla, he would never have allowed his mate on such a mission, but seeing Tessa in action proved this wasn’t her first time doing something dangerous.
“We have visual,” Tamian said half an hour later through the comms. “There are two Gargoyles and four Unholy we can see. Craven must be inside the cabin. We’re going to take the guards out.”
“Craven is mine,” Remy reminded them.
“Copy that.”
No longer worried about being quiet, Remy picked up the pace. Gregor and Tessa easily kept up with him. By the time they reached the cabin, both Gargoyles had been taken down. The Unholy were bound and secured against four trees with Dominic’s males and Tamian standing guard. They had agreed to leave them alive if at all possible. Tamian pointed to the door, and Remy turned to see Dominic pushing a shaking Craven outside.
