Something Like Hate - Harloe Rae Page 0,110

of his own and needed to borrow mine. I would willingly give him anything.

Being infatuated with that boy was a beautiful curse. What could have been special didn’t get the chance to bloom. He’d never see me as more than his best friend’s kid sister. That was a hard lesson to learn, but not the most difficult.

Grady had always been struggling against the odds. Eventually he quit fighting and let his family’s reputation own him. Try as I might, those influences were beyond my reach.

He didn’t mean to break my heart. Or maybe he did. I shouldn’t have made it so easy for him. Either way, our wrongs against each other carved new lines between us.

I went four years without seeing Grady—each one more painful than the last. That distance did nothing to dull my feelings toward him. But things are different now. Most noticeably is Grady. I barely recognize this man he’s become. And that’s the way he intends to keep it. Not that it really matters.

Grady Bowen stopped being my happy something long ago.

Loner: a single parent/enemies to lovers romance

“Everyone deserves a chance to be rescued.”

That’s the mantra I’m repeating when a well-equipped biker pulls over to save me. One glance at the scowl Crawford Doxe is wearing proves he isn’t impressed with the task. My efforts to change his mind deflate faster than the shredded tire at our feet. But disgruntled or not, my so-called hero still agrees to fix my flat.

I don’t expect to see Crawford again, but he’s suddenly very visible in our small town. Avoiding him would be my preference. That’s not how this story goes. For whatever reason, my daughter finds an ally in the broody mechanic. Denying her is something I do my best to avoid. I can only hope Crawford’s shine wears off before he tarnishes what little trust still exists.

As if the odds are ever on my side.

Commitments are a foreign concept to him. He doesn’t make any promises to try. That should’ve been enough for me to steer clear. It most certainly isn’t.

What follows can only be described as a disastrous clash of epic proportions.

But one indisputable fact remains. That lone soul has no plans of opening his heart.

GENT: An enemies to lovers standalone

Raven Elliot blasts into town like a wrecking ball—striking and devastating.

With a few simple words, my reliable routine crumbles to dust.

“Is this seat taken?”

I could close my eyes and let her voice wrap around me like a lover’s caress.

But this isn’t that type of story.

And I’m sure as hell not that kind of man.

She hovers in my space, batting her lashes and smiling shyly.

The glimmer in her sapphire eyes is a promise of peace.

But I’m not falling for it.

And Raven doesn’t take the hint.

What starts as a battle of wills, explodes into a turf war.

She stands directly in my path everywhere I turn.

No matter how hard I shove, she won’t budge.

Raven seems dead set on driving me insane.

But I was here first.

And I’m not going down easy.

After all, no one ever taught me how to treat a lady.

Something Like Hate was quite a rocky journey in the best ways. This book was so much fun to write because Vannah and Landon completely took over. I’m sure that’s not a surprise after reading their story. These two are a force to reckon with. I loved arguing with them, but especially enjoyed their hard-earned love. It’s definitely worth the battle.

As always, publishing a book wouldn’t be possible without my outstanding support system. My husband, kids, family, and friends provide me with so much encouragement each day that keeps my cup overflowing. Renee, Jacquelyn, Heather, and Kk are always there to root me on when I need it most.

I need to thank YOU for picking up my book. Without you reading my words, I wouldn’t be able to do this gig. I wish I could thank you in person, but please know how much it means to me that you chose to read my book out of so many wonderful choices. You’re amazing!

A big thanks to Talia with Book Cover Kingdom. You’ve been my cover designer and friend since the start of this author journey, which is over four years now. Crazy, right? Your unwavering friendship means the world to me. I can’t leave out your epic talent either. Each cover seems to surpass the next. Thank you isn’t enough, so hopefully there will be hugs in our future.

I’m extremely fortunate to have so many spectacular friends who constantly provide reassurance and guidance whenever I need an extra push. You’re the best pillars of strength and support. I’d be completely unmotivated and lost without you—Tia, Annie, Kate, KL, Michelle, Ella, Nicole, Suzie, Ace, Keri, Melissa, TJ, and so many more. Thank you always!

An extra loud shoutout to my reader group—Harloe’s Hotties—and my review crew. You’re the ladies who give me all the positive boosts and inspiration. I’ll never be able to thank you enough for the continued support I feel from our groups. Our slice on social media is my absolute favorite. I’ll be eternally grateful for all you do. You’re my people and I love you dearly!

Thank you to Candi Kane and her team at Candi Kane PR. She’s such an unstoppable force and works tirelessly to ensure each release goes off without a hitch. I’m forever grateful. Also, a big thanks to the wonderful ladies at Give Me Books. Once again, your help for this release is invaluable and very much appreciated.

Thanks to Wander, the very talented photographer who shot the seductive image of Zakk to become the muse for Landon. Isn’t he absolute perfection?

Sending a huge thanks to Alex with Infinite Well for editing and polishing Something Like Hate until the story sparkled. It was great working with you to make this book even better!

Stacey from Champagne Book Design once again created the most stunning interior for my book baby. I cannot recommend her formatting services enough!

I can’t end without sending out another massive round of thanks to all the readers, reviewers, bloggers, bookstagrammers, and romance lovers out there. Because of you, authors like me get to continue writing and doing what we love. You’re who we strive to reach and aim to be better for. Thank you to infinity for continuing to be there for all of us!

And last but definitely not least, if you enjoyed Something Like Hate and want to do me a huge favor, please consider leaving a review. It really helps others find my books. Thank you for reading!
