Six-Gun - Winter Travers Page 0,38
you think they’re just going to have a handwritten confession laying around?” Maybe the whole ideas for the Sisters to figure out who killed Leona was above our heads. I didn’t think Raelyn’s idea was going to work, but I couldn’t think of a better plan.
“Why don’t we start with step one? We go over to the Devil’s Rebels clubhouse. Don’t knock or anything. Just drive and see what we see,” Raelyn suggested.
“I mean, that isn’t going to hurt anything. It would just give us a sort of lay of the land, right?” This might have some merit to it. It was a miniscule start, but it was better than nothing.
Raelyn nodded. “We should go now. The guys are in church, and for once, they didn’t leave one of them watching over us.”
Six-Gun had told me the meeting would be pretty long today, but he would be able to take me to work later. It was only half past eleven, and I didn’t need to start getting ready for at least four hours. “I’m up for it.” It wasn’t like Six-Gun could get mad at us. We were essentially just going to a ride. I did it all the time with him.
“We can take my car.”
I dumped my coffee on the ground. “And we can stop and get coffee on the way.” As much as I was okay with the coffee at the clubhouse, sometimes a girl just needed a latte that she didn’t have to make.
“Oh,” Raelyn gasped. “And a donut.”
I high-fived her. “That is the best idea.”
Raelyn’s face fell. “Wait, do you really think we should be doing this? You know the guys don’t want us leaving without at least one of them with us.”
I waved my hand. “We’ll be fine. All we are going to do if stop for coffee and donuts and then loop around the Devil’s Rebels clubhouse. We’ll be back before they even get out of their meeting.”
Raelyn gnawed on her bottom lip. “I mean, you’re totally right. They won’t even know we were gone.”
“Nope. No one will know but you and me.” I smiled wide. “What do you say, Rae? Is this going to be the first outing for the Sisters?”
A huge smile spread across her lips. “Let’s hit it, sister.”
Chapter Fifteen
A little surprise…
Six-Gun
“What time was he supposed to be here?”
Monk looked at the clock on the wall. “Half an hour ago.”
“You think maybe we should call him?” Jinx suggested.
Monk looked at me and I shrugged. “It wouldn’t hurt to give him a call.”
Monk grunted and grabbed his phone. “Calling the country’s biggest mafia boss and asking him where he is doesn’t seem right.” He connected the call, hit the speaker button, and set it on the table. “One of you idiots makes a crack and I’ll shoot you in the foot. Got it?” he growled.
We all nodded but couldn’t help but laugh. Monk scolding us like we were a bunch of school kids was too much to handle.
“Banachi,” Leo barked into the phone.
“Leo,” Monk called. “We were just checking in to see when you think you’ll be here.”
Pretty smooth of Monk, making it sound like we were casually calling instead of demanding to know where the hell he was.
“I had to make a stop,” he replied. “I happened to pick something up and it set me behind a bit. I should be there in a few minutes.”
“No problem, no problem,” Monk assured him. “We’re ready and waiting for you.”
“See you in a couple of minutes.” Leo ended the call, and we all breathed a sigh of relief.
“Was I the only one thinking he was going to tell us to fuck off?” Rebel laughed.
Jet and Tank raised their hands. “Yeah,” they said in unison.
Monk sent Jinx out front to wait for Leo and to bring him back to church when he got here.
Five minutes later, the door opened again and in walked Jinx and behind him Leo filed in with Memphis and Raelyn flanking him.
We all jumped up, and Playboy rushed to Raelyn.
Leo held up his hand to Playboy. “You might want to take a breath and listen before you try to beat the shit out of me for walking in here with your ol’ ladies.”
Playboy stopped in his tracks, and I had to mentally tell myself to stay put and not gather Memphis in my arms.
Leo motioned to Memphis and Raelyn. “Maybe you ladies would like to start explaining, and I’ll jump in where need be.”
Memphis and Raelyn looked at each other
