he pulls back to look at me curiously. “I think you liked it.” The low rumble of his voice vibrates through my entire body.

That’s an understatement. It was unlike any other sex I’ve ever had. More intense. More powerful. I’m not a small woman, and the way he held me up—it’s like nothing I’ve ever experienced before.

I mean, he can’t really be classified like any other guy. First of all, he’s unlike any other man I’ve ever met—in a good way. I’m not sure if that’s because he’s an alien or what, but if that’s it for him … okay! I’m in!

He carries me to the bedroom, still wet, and we collapse onto the bed still wrapped in each other’s arms. “What were those lights?” I finally breathe out, overwhelmed by the pure connection I feel between us as he lays on top of me.

Everything that’s happened since yesterday is so … incredible and … impossible to explain … even to myself. I’m sure I didn’t imagine that fantastic display during sex. I’ve heard of seeing fireworks, but that was beyond what I could have ever imagined.

Nikon licks his lips slowly, and I watch him ease more weight onto his hands as he pulls out from between my legs, causing me to flinch from the loss. Our connection is so perfect. I can’t remember ever wanting a guy to stay inside me after sex, but then again, I don’t remember a guy ever being capable of doing it either.

“I’m pretty sure those were mating lights.” Nikon sounds as awed as I feel. “Honestly, I need to go back and talk to some of the others in my squad who are working back in North America. They’ve mated with Earth women since we arrived here, but no one’s had time to really compare notes.”

“What do you mean? Is this a new thing? Don’t you mate back … on your home planet?” Nikon throws his head back, laughing lightly as he shakes his head. “Wait. Which part is funny?”

Sitting up on my elbows, I watch him climb off the bed. He casually saunters over to what looks like a blank wall until he waves his hand and a series of cabinets—almost like lockers—appear. Opening one, he begins pulling out items and tossing them a few feet to the bed.

“It’s not funny. It’s just that there aren’t many Sinth living on our planet any longer. Only a select few scientists working in bio-domes, maintaining what’s left of our studies and history. There’s way more artificial life forms on Sinthroid than registered clones.”

“Oh, wow!” It sounds like something right out of a sci-fi book. Bio-domes and artificial life forms … cloning? Does that mean he’s a clone? I must admit I’ve never been a huge fan of the sci-fi genre, but it sounds very high-tech … and way out of my realm of understanding.

“Yeah, well … when you have your own dimension, it seems silly to worry about maintaining your home planet, huh?” His laugh is jaded as he pulls out a strange bottle, shaped like a pyramid, rolling a transparent lid to the side. “This might sting.”

He comes back to the bed, sitting down next to me and pulling one of my legs across his lap, cuts face-up. Lifting the bottle and pointing it at my injuries, I jerk as a spray comes from the top, and I realize it must be a disinfectant of some sort as he sprays the small, deep cuts on my calf. It takes a moment for the burn to start, but what he’s sharing is so fascinating, I don't want to interrupt. “We have a pretty basic archival system available to everyone, and of course, what the Coalition has on us and our family history. Everything I learned was quite a long time ago, too. I’m afraid I’m one of those people that only retains information if it’s practical and needed. I’m not Payak.”

“Payak? How do you mean? He’s your Sinth boss?” Gritting my teeth, I ignore the sharp sting as he applies another spray before pinching the area for a second and moving to the next one. As he releases my leg, I see that he’s put on a high-tech version of butterfly bandages, sticking to itself and keeping the cut closed. Cool. Better than super glue, and I’ve been known to use that.

“Yes. By Earth standards, he’d be considered my boss. The difference is what the word ‘boss’ infers. Boss meaning he’s in charge and
