body adjust.

Grant reached his hand down to play with the bundle of nerves at my core. It felt so divine, my mouth fell open as I tipped my head back and slid all the way down onto him, taking him in to the hilt. I let out an unbridled moan at the full feeling of having him inside me.

I stayed there like that for an extended moment, savoring the sensation of us being connected as one. As he continued rubbing his thumb over me, I found that I couldn’t stay motionless any longer. My hips began pumping over him as if they had a mind of their own.

Tossing my head back and losing myself in the marvelous sensations he was creating in me, I cried out and pulsed around his thick member.

Grant groaned as he found his release. I stayed there, wrapping my arms and legs tightly around him as he shook.

Insecurities flooded my system as I wondered if I had done something wrong. He alleviated my fears when he said, “I wasn’t completely sure if it would work, but you made it magical.”

“You were so worth the wait,” I whispered near his ear as he kissed the tears of happiness from my face.

Molly

This had to be the longest work shift ever. I had so many strong emotions churning through my system and this bar and grill was the last place I wanted to be.

Finally, Avery arrived and hurried over to me. “Is something wrong? Your text sounded urgent.”

“No, not really. I just need to talk to you.” I led her to an empty table in the back where we could have a bit of privacy.

Once we were seated, I said, “I hope I didn’t pull you away from anything important.”

“Of course not. I never do anything important anymore,” Avery answered flippantly.

I gave her a warm smile. She was struggling with her current situation, and I wanted to help her feel better about herself, but right now, I needed the focus to be on me.

“What’s up?” she asked, giving me her full attention.

I leaned in to reveal, “Grant and I made love.”

“What?” she squealed with her eyes bulging out in surprise. “Oh, sweetie, that’s wonderful. Was it good? Are you okay?”

“It was the most magnificent night of my entire life, and I have never been better,” I answered honestly.

Some kind of best friend voodoo magic had Avery giving me a narrow-eyed stare before she asked, “But?”

“But this morning he was gone. He left a note, but it didn’t say anything about another date. Last night we were proclaiming our love for each other, but today my insecurities are starting to creep in. What if it wasn’t as amazing for him as it was for me?”

“I’m sure that’s not the case,” Avery assured me before asking, “What did the note say?”

Deciding that sharing its contents with her wouldn’t in any way betray Grant’s privacy, I pulled the note that I’d already read at least fifty times from my apron pocket and slid it across the table to her.

She read his brisk words out loud. “Late for the set. Thank you for a great night.”

“Hmm.” She tapped her lips as she stared at the note. “It’s cute that he signed it with a little heart and the initial G.”

“But what does it mean? Was he implying that that one night is all it will be? And why did he use the word ‘great?’ That ho-hum word doesn’t begin to describe how I felt about it.”

Avery was shaking her head at my neurotic concerns. “You’re overthinking this. He was probably in a huge hurry, but didn’t want to disturb you. It was kind of him to leave a note, so you wouldn’t have to worry that he had just slipped away with no intention of ever seeing you again.”

“But he didn’t say anything about seeing me again,” I pointed out logically before asking, “And what does that little heart mean? It’s certainly not the same as saying he loves me. Did he just use those words to get me into bed and during the heat of passion?”

“Honey, you have to calm down and give him the benefit of the doubt. You’re starting to make me happy I don’t have a man in my life,” she added, giving me a sad smile.

A waitress came to our table. “Sorry to interrupt you, Molly, but there’s a delivery person here who says he needs your signature.”

I nodded, but gave Avery an exasperated look. She knew about
