Saxon's Savior (Protect and Serve #3) - Pandora Pine Page 0,33
to punch him in the face. “We had a nice time. Got there early and watched the cartoons. We had a tea party picnic with the movie.”
“Booooring!” Ozzy sang out. “Were there sparks? Did he hold your hand? Kiss you? Fuck you? I couldn’t care less if he enjoyed the finger sandwiches, did anyone get fingered?”
I snorted. I couldn’t help myself. “You’ve got a man at home. Why are you so interested in my one date?”
Ozzy sat back in his chair. It creaked under his weight. “Before I met Deacon, I would have just given you shit about going on a date and finding a fuck buddy. With him in my life, everything’s different.”
I’d seen Ozzy’s transformation firsthand. He was happier and his soul was somehow lighter. Is that what he wanted for me? “It’s one date, man. We didn’t make a lifetime commitment to each other.”
“You didn’t answer my question. Did he fuck you?” Ozzy wore a coy smile on his face.
“No! Saxon didn’t fuck me. He barely kissed me goodnight. There! You happy now?” I crossed my arms over my chest, my pout in full effect. I could still feel the spot on my hand where he’d brushed a quick kiss as we said goodnight.
“Interesting.” Ozzy waggled his dark brows at me.
“What the hell do you mean ‘interesting’?” I was starting to lose my temper. Ozzy was acting like there was something he knew and I didn’t.
“It sounds like Saxon treated you like a gentleman, instead of a piece of meat. Why does that make you pissy?”
“What? I’m not pissy.” I totally was, but Ozzy’s thought about last night threw new light on what happened.
“Let me guess, you wanted to get busy, but he put the brake on things?” Ozzy wore a knowing smile. Smug bastard.
I nodded. “Yeah, something like that. We sat close during the movie, and he didn’t try to talk to me, except when we recited the most famous lines together.” I hadn’t expected Saxon to act like that. I had assumed he would be a chatty date.
“Well, that’s a match made in Bruce Willis heaven.” Ozzy grinned. “Did you pout like you are now, when he didn’t kiss you or invite you in?”
“No.” I rolled my eyes. It had been a near thing. A very near thing. “I was a gentleman too. Then I went home and jerked off until I had nothing left to…”
Ozzy grimaced and held a hand up to stop whatever I was going to say next. “Point taken.”
“What the hell does his behavior mean?” Christ, I’d never been good at this kind of thing. I was good at understanding overt signals. If Saxon had grabbed my hand and put it against his package, or hit his knees in front of me, I would have understood completely.
“One of two things. Either he’s really into you and isn’t looking for only one night or he isn’t interested in you at all.” Ozzy burst out laughing.
“Eat a bag of dicks, Oz. How the fuck is that helpful?” I was halfway out of my seat before my brother motioned me to sit back down.
Ozzy sobered at my outburst. “I’m serious. No bag of dicks required. What kind of vibe did you get from him? Did he seem into you, but cautious, or like he couldn’t wait to get away?”
I frowned. With only Toby Whitmer as a comparison, I guess I’d completely missed the subtle vibes Saxon had been transmitting. “I’m an asshole.”
“I know that, but what does it have to do with Saxon and your date.” Ozzy was back to being his usual dick-faced self.
“I was using Toby Whitmer as my yardstick for measuring Saxon’s attraction to me. Toby went from zero to sixty in one second flat. Saxon was much slower. His smile was different, and so was the way he looked at me, as if he were seeing me for the first time.”
“Don’t you think he was? We’re all different people outside of work. Saxon’s surely seen enough of you here to really notice the difference in the man he was with last night.”
“I was such a jerk to him from day one. I’m shocked he went out with me at all.” To tell the truth, I’d spent the rest of the day waiting for him to text me with some excuse about not being able to make it.
“I was too.” Ozzy leaned forward in his chair. “I know things haven’t been easy on you with the shit Toby pulled, and then
