Saving Blu (Kings Reapers MC #4) - Nicola Jane Page 0,43

back that she’s gone looking for her own answers, whatever the hell that means. “Try The Duke,” says Anna. “If I wanted answers on Enzo’s death, I’d start there.”

By the time I get to The Duke Bar, it’s raining and I’m soaked through to the skin. This is not the evening I had in mind, but if Gia is here, she’s putting herself in danger.

Heads turn to look at me as I enter the bar. It’s not somewhere the Kings would usually come. It’s known for trouble and although the Kings can go anywhere this side of town without problems, we still prefer The Windsor.

The landlord nods his head at me. “Looking for Vinn’s sister,” I say and he glances over to the window, where I spot Gia sitting at a table alone.

“She’s been like that for ten minutes, just staring,” he tells me.

I march over to her and she glances up right as I grip her by the arm and haul her to her feet. “Blu,” she hisses.

“You wanted to know,” I growl, “so let’s go.” I drag her back through the bar and this time, heads turn the other way. I shove her out the door and she stumbles, just catching herself in time.

“What the fuck,” she yells, spinning to face me. The rain is hammering down on us as I grip her again and march her towards my bike. The wool of her dress is soaked, so I shrug out of my leather jacket and shove it at her. She folds her arms stubbornly, so I roll my eyes and put it back on. If she wants to get wet, then let her.

When she refuses to get on the bike, I lift her at the waist and put her on it, climbing on in front of her. I notice she doesn’t bother to put her arms around my waist and instead holds onto the sissy bar at her back.

I stop the bike outside of Hannah and Alice’s home. The lights are on and I only hope that Alice doesn’t tell me to get lost when she sees me. I keep hold of Gia’s wrist and once Alice opens the door, I push her inside and follow her in. Alice looks between us, obviously confused.

“I need to look at that file again,” I say and Alice’s eyes widen.

“Are you shitting me, Azure? I can’t keep giving access to that. It’s an open case.”

“That we both know isn’t being investigated. This is Enzo’s daughter,” I say and Alice nods. Of course, she knows who Gianna is. “She wants to be a big girl and thinks she can handle all the gory details,” I snap and Alice smiles sympathetically at Gia, who has gone unusually quiet.

“Fine,” sighs Alice. She leads us through to the kitchen and opens her laptop. After a minute, she turns the laptop towards me and then leaves us alone.

“Where are we?” snaps Gia. “What are we doing here?”

“You want to know what the fuck happened to your dad, I’ll show you.” I turn the laptop to her and photos of Enzo appear on the screen. Before she can get a close look, I tug her hard against me. “Are you sure you’re ready for this, princess, because it isn’t pretty.”

“For the last time,” she hisses, yanking her hand free. “I am not a fuckin’ princess. I can handle it.”

I release her and watch as she takes in the pictures of her dad. “He suffered,” she whispers. “He was found tied up, beaten—what cowards would do that?” she asks.

“We’ll get whoever did it,” I say firmly because I know we will. Vinn won’t let this go. He wants revenge and I don’t blame him. She pushes the laptop away and braces her hands on the counter, her head hanging. “I want to go,” she whispers.

I send a text off to Vinn telling him that I found Gia. He already gave me permission to tell her about Enzo. He replies asking me if she’s okay and I tell him I’m keeping her with me for a while. A walk might clear her head.

The rain’s slowed to a drizzle, so I grab her hand and lead her towards the river. I offer her my jacket again and this time she takes it. It buries her, but she looks hot in it and I feel a sense of pride that she’s wearing my kutte.

“What if something happens to Vinn?” she asks.

“It won’t,” I assure her. “Vinn’s security is good. Your
