Savage King: New Worlds - Milly Taiden Page 0,4
something wasn’t easy. But just like in their younger years, as long as they were together, they’d make it through. Maybe not completely unscathed, but alive.
“Lilah?” she said, still in their group hug.
“Yes, Wren.”
“Your shoulder is digging into my boob. It’s going to pop.”
“That’s okay. You got another one big enough to replace the other.”
For some reason that struck her as funny. Her giggle turned into a laugh, becoming a cathartic guffaw.
Lilah patted her shoulder. “Yeah, you’re gonna be fine, cuz.” Lilah turned and stared into the thick, lush, jungle-like terrain. “Let’s see if we can figure out where we are.”
Wren heard a shuffling sound off to the side. She turned to see someone, or something, scrambling through the ferns away from then. “Did you see that?” she said to both ladies.
“Yeah,” Daphne said, “what was it?”
“I don’t know. It wasn’t very tall,” Wren whispered.
“As long as it was running away from us, I don’t care what it was.”
“Yeah, it was probably nothing. Let’s find someone with a phone.”
Chapter Two
Not believing what he saw, Xenos lay among the jungle foliage a short distance from the three females, watching them through dense brush as they stumbled through the floating circle and fell to the ground. He wasn’t sure what to think of them.
Portals were powerful magic only the mother goddess could create. Were these three goddesses like Mother and were they coming from the Mother’s homeland? Did they have incredible magic beyond anything seen in the dimension?
Their coverings hid half their bodies, strange things protected their feet. He picked up their words here and there, but the way they bickered, then flipped and showed compassion to each other was mind boggling. He never understood females when he was younger. He was sure not much had changed on his part.
A smile came to his snout—something that had never happened. Nothing had happened worth smiling for in two hundred cold moons.
He studied the females. He’d never seen fae of such colors as the three. The one with the thin body was so pale, she looked ill. Her hair too—barely a color at all, it was so light. The bigger one had skin like the children before turning darker as adults. Then the last one, the one who had fear in her, was a rich shade of cocoa. Creamy and smooth. He wanted to rub himself all over her. She could pass as one of his people.
He shook his head. No, no, no. They weren’t his people, nor had they ever been. They wouldn’t claim him even if he walked into their tribe. They’d force him to leave, yell and throw rocks at him. His chest hurt. He got to his paws, shaking off the fae emotions. Animals didn’t have heartaches.
He paced, still hidden by trees, vines, and ground cover. He felt. . .weird inside. Anxious suddenly, not wanting to remain still. His heart pounded harder. Something was wrong. He continued observing the females to see what they would do next.
The one who had fear radiating from her was highly interesting. Something about her drew his eyes. Her dark hair flowed like water over a fall. Her face was the most beautiful he’d seen.
Movement across the blasted ground caught his eye. The kappy. Dragon shit, it was supposed to have been his early morning meal. The little bastard scuttled away. This was the creature’s lucky day. He was more interested in the trio of females.
They stood at the edge of the scraped dirt, staring into the jungle. Again, they argued, none of them able to finish a sentence before another one spoke. They almost sounded like children that needed to be spanked. An image of the fearful one, naked and under him, flashed in his mind. His cock buried inside her.
He froze. Paws locked in place. Never had a thought like that crossed his mind. Not the entire five hundred cold moons he’d been alive.
He should leave. Go away and not seek them out. Let Fate have her way with them. His eyes stared at the one with creamy skin. She was so. . .perfect. Perhaps he’d just wait to make sure nothing happened to her. His terrain was deadly.
He wondered if they came from the Crystal Kingdom. Legends from his childhood raced through his mind. Crystal Kingdom and the beautiful forests, the castles of stone and wood the fae kings and queens lived in. They roamed wherever they wanted, whenever they wanted with magic so strong, they could stop time. And open portals
