anything.
Her smell, her arousal, her groan, swallowed him. He couldn’t tell if his heart was still beating or not. He was upright, so that was a good sign. A deep ache rolled through his balls, his entire crotch felt ready to set fire to his clothing. A feeling like hunger tightened in his stomach, but he was hungry for only one thing.
His mate’s curves were what he wanted to nibble on, to suck like she had his fingers. He wanted to slide into her hot core and bury himself until she cried out his name. A sensation—it was hard to put into words—slinked up inside his chest. Like an itch, but he had no means to scratch it. Goddess, he felt like he could die from sensory overload.
She made a noise and he snapped out of his hazy, euphoric stupor. But she wasn’t done trying to kill him. She said something about a sack, then her eyes traveled down his body, taking in every muscle. He stood a little straighter and tightened his stomach. His alpha pride was sneaking up on him. He pushed that away. He couldn’t let those powers reemerge.
When her eyes shot to the sky, and her face turned even pinker, he chuckled. She was affected as much as he was. Damnation, he needed to shake off the yearning eating him inside. He wasn’t sure how much longer he could hold on. The woman had to stop being so sexy. The only way to do that would be to hide her under a mound of dirt, but then he’d think that was the sexiest dirt pile he’d ever seen.
He picked handfuls of berries and wondered how they were going to get these back without having to hold them. He glanced at his mate, thinking about how he could ask her, but his mind was blasted.
The woman had lifted her shirt just high enough to show a swath of her skin. Just the curves he wanted to run his tongue down on his way to more desirable areas. His hands started to fist until he felt liquid running down his wrist.
Oh, right. He was holding juicy berries.
Her arousal floated on the air. He breathed deeply. She was killing him. Yet she seemed so calm and innocent, keeping her smile in place.
Well, maybe he’d help her along in the area of expressing herself.
Chapter Nine
She saw Xenos breathe deeply, and his eyes flashed white as if the starburst around the pupil exploded. From where he picked berries, she saw a devious grin spread on his face. Oh shit. What had she done? She hadn’t known him long enough to understand what those eyes said.
He stepped up to her, so close that his abs pressed on her hands holding her shirt, and the apples in the pouch smashed against her stomach. His scent was intoxicating. She could feel his body heat from where she stood.
He stared into her eyes, his filled with desire. She swallowed hard. He lifted his hands. He was going to grab her face and kiss her the way he wanted.
Her heart raced. She wanted this too. His hands came up to hers holding her shirt, then he opened his hands, dumping the berries in and stepped back and around the bush.
In her dazed mind, she couldn’t figure out why his lips weren’t on hers. His dazzling smile snapped her back. She sucked in a deep breath, eyes super wide. “You were teasing me. On purpose even.”
His head tossed back, and he let out a hearty laugh. She could only grin at the goofball. He winked after his laughing fit was over and went back to picking berries. He mumbled in his language, which sounded sexy and deep. She could listen to it all day.
He dropped in another handful of edibles then held his hand out to her. She fixed her shirt in one hand then touched her palm to his. A thrill shot through her. This was turning out to be a good day. She took a deep breath in through her nose. She scented perfumes that were so much better than anything you could buy. She pulled Xenos toward a tree and sniffed the bark.
It smelled so good. Sort of like the trees at home, but nuttier. Her hand rubbed down the bark. It was smooth, not bumpy like she was used to. Xenos called out, and she turned back to see why. She giggled at the sight.
Acorns poured from the branches, bouncing off his head.
