Rocking His Fake World (Love You Forever #3) - Alexis Winter Page 0,12
his chest to break our kiss.
“I’m not really looking for a relationship at the moment, Daniel.”
“Neither am I,” he whispers, moving his mouth back to mine.
Well, if we’re both on the same page, then I might as well enjoy having him in my bed. I wrap my arms around him and pull him back on top of me. He gets between my parted legs, and already, I can feel how excited he is. With one roll of his hips, he’s sliding back where he belongs.
I wake to something soft on my forehead. I open my eyes in time to see him pulling away from the kiss he left there. “I have to go. I have to work,” he says, gazing down at me.
I let out a groan. “Aw, man. I was hoping for a little recap of last night.” I offer him a smile.
He looks down at me, thinking it over. He grabs the bottom of his shirt and rips it over his head. “Only a short recap,” he agrees, covering his body with mine.
One thing leads to another, and before I know it, we’re right back where I wanted to be. But he stands by his word and keeps it quick. Far too soon, he’s pulling away and dressing to take off for the day. Once he’s gone, I go back to sleep until my 10 a.m. alarm goes off and forces me to get up. I shower, dress for work, and make it in at noon on the dot. I open the register and flip on the sign before going to sit down on my stool behind the counter. I need to prepare next week’s schedule for the other employees, but first I have to check the calendar in case someone’s asked for days off.
The door opens and the bell above it gets my attention. I look up in time to see Van coming to a stop before me. I offer up a sleepy smile. “What’s up?”
He shrugs. “Just wanted to check and make sure you didn’t end up murdered or something last night.”
I roll my eyes and laugh. “No, Daniel is a good guy.”
“How would you know? You’ve known him for less than 24 hours,” he jokes.
I shrug. “I’m good at reading people.”
“Did you guys hook up last night?”
I smile wide. “Twice last night and once this morning.” I feel my face growing hot just from admitting that.
“Damn.” He lets out a long whistle. “I guess the other guys aren’t the only ones who need to watch out. You end up pregnant and all this is over. You know that, right?”
I roll my eyes. Van and I are close and there’s nothing but friendship between us. Some might think he’s speaking from jealously, but we’ve agreed to always be 100 percent honest with each other. So what he’s saying to me is don’t fuck this up for us.
“I know, Van. You don’t have to tell me. We were careful. Extra careful. Not only am I on birth control, but he also pulled out without me even asking him to.”
He snorts. “Wow, what a good guy.”
I can’t help but laugh. “Seriously, we’re good.”
He nods. “All right. I’m going to get out of here then. Don’t forget, we’ve got practice every night this week to prepare for the meeting with the label on Monday.”
I salute him. “Aye, aye, Captain!”
He laughs and shakes his head, but holds up his middle finger as he makes his way out the door.
I get off work around 5 p.m., and as I’m gathering my things, a girl with bright-red hair walks into the store. She makes her way up to the counter. “Hi, I’m Mack, Daniel’s niece.”
I smile. “Oh, hey! You’re just in time. Are you ready to get started?”
“Yeah, just let me run out and grab my guitar. I wanted to make sure I was in the right spot.”
“Okay, I’ll be right here.”
I watch as she runs out the door to the truck waiting out front. I completely forgot that our tutoring lessons were starting today. After sleeping with Daniel, I feel kind of weird about him paying me for the lessons now, but I can’t back out.
After an hour of going over some basics with Mack, I wrap up the lesson and give her some homework to keep her busy until our next session. She’s packing up her guitar when she asks, “How’d you get into all of this? You’re really good.”
