The Reign Of Kings - Candice Wright Page 0,63

should have had no difficulty sliding my panties down too.

“Well, no, but—”

“Yeah, that’s what I thought. You’re lucky I’m in a good mood.” I know, in theory, I should be freaking out, but I can’t muster up the energy to feel anything other than relaxed and content. I guess a good dicking will do that to a girl.

Bates rolls his eyes. “You’re in a good mood because of my dick.”

And there goes my good mood. It's one thing for me to think it, but another for the cocky asshole to throw it out there like that. I stare at Priest, who looks a little pissed and a whole lot jealous.

“Can I have my gun back?” I mutter, still grumpy that I haven’t gotten it back since he took it away from me.

“Why?” he asks warily.

“So I can shoot princess over there. I mean, I have you and Saint, he’s really more of a spare part,” I tell him, squealing when Bates rounds the table and picks me up, tossing me over his shoulder so he can slap my ass, hard.

“You fucker, put me down.”

“Behave yourself then, or I’ll fill that sweet little mouth with—”

“There is a cop at the gate. He says we have something that belongs to him,” one of the prospects yells, making my blood run cold.

“Oh my god,” I choke out, my coffee threatening to make a reappearance.

“Get her out of here,” Priest demands. Bates doesn’t waste any time. He tosses me to Cassius, who is now beside us like the whole thing was choreographed.

“Don’t let her out of your sight,” Bates orders as he follows Priest and Saint toward the entrance.

I struggle to get free, but Cassius’s grip is firm as he moves quickly, with me in his arms bridal style. He runs down the hall and up the stairs, bypassing my room and walking farther down the corridor to one of the others.

“Where are we going?”

“Your room is soundproof. I want to be able to hear if anyone is coming,” he answers, his deep voice rumbling out of his chest. Jesus, he isn’t even out of breath. Meanwhile, I’m breathing as if I’ve run a marathon.

Logically, I know the guys can handle themselves, but I’m reeling from the fact that Garrett found me already, knowing if he causes shit, it's because I led him to Carnage’s door.

Cassius pushes the door at the end of the corridor open, revealing a pair of white ass cheeks pumping away at a woman on the bed whose face I can’t see.

“I’m blind!” I cover my eyes, hearing the guy grunt and the woman scream as they reach their mutual climaxes.

Nice to know I didn’t stop them coming, for fuck’s sake.

At least it pulled me out of my impending panic.

Cassius slides me down his body before moving over to the window and peering out. I move to follow him, studiously trying to avoid looking at the couple on the bed, but he holds his hand up for me to stop.

“I don’t want anyone seeing you,” he says as the woman on the bed starts moaning again, capturing my attention.

“Already?” I look at the couple oblivious to us who are at it once again. Talk about zero recovery time.

“He’s coming inside,” Cassius remarks.

“Yeah, I can see that, thanks.” I gag over the visual.

“No, the cop is coming inside.”

“What?” I wrap my arms around my waist, my attempt to distract myself with the fornicating couple no longer working. Fuck he could pull his dick out and wave it in my face and I wouldn’t notice.

My mind is locked on the possibility that maybe the guys changed their minds about me. Maybe Garrett threatened them with something. And damn if that doesn’t make my breath hitch as a sharp pain pierces my chest.

A police captain could cause so many problems for these guys, and I have nobody to blame but myself. Fucking Garrett, that is, if it’s even Garrett, to begin with.

“What does he look like?”

“Blond, skinny with a pasty ass,” Cassius answers, making me frown before I glance at the bed and roll my eyes.

“Jesus, Cass, I mean the cop.”

“Oh, tall, built like a tank and dark like you.”

My breath catches, and before he can stop me, I turn and run, pulling the door open despite Cassius’s protests and charge down the staircase toward the sound of angry voices. My heart races a mile a minute because the man Cass described isn’t Garret, but someone else I know.

I come to a halt
