it from me, but I hold it up above her, higher than she can reach.
“Give that back!” she says, jumping.
I look up at it and grin. “Yep. Definitely my towel. I was wondering where this went. I should’ve guessed it was you. When did you take this?”
“Luca!” she growls as she tries to jump up and grab it again, making her tits bounce beautifully.
“Keep jumping like that, Mousey. I enjoy the view.”
She lets out a flustered huff and stops jumping, crossing her arms over her breasts as if I can’t see the way her nipples have grown hard and are showing through the material. “You’re annoying.”
Hmm, based on her changing scent and the way her heart is beating so fast, I’d wager that annoyance isn’t what she’s feeling right now. It’s arousal. That pleases me and my animal to no end.
I let my hand drop and hold the towel in front of us. “Care to explain?”
She sighs. “Fine. I took it to the sanctuary with me, okay?”
I look down at the cloth in my hand. “You did? Fuck, that’s sexy.”
She makes a face at me. “Why is that sexy?”
“Are you kidding? You stole it so that you could smell me while you were in heat. You were probably rubbing your tight, naked body all over it, weren’t you?”
She blushes again. “No.”
I grin. “Liar.” I toss the towel into her hamper. “You keep it, Mousey.”
“I was going to put it back after I was done here,” she insists.
“I want you to have it.”
Snatching up her hamper, she turns and stalks away. I easily catch up to her and even beat her to the door. I hold it open for her. “After you,” I say with a flourish.
She huffs and walks out.
I keep in step beside her as she goes back to Warehouse Three, where she drops off her hamper, and then I follow her to the sanctuary, despite the scowl she sends my way. We walk along the dirt path in silence while I carry some cleaning supplies and a trash bag that she brought out with her.
Finally, I can’t take her tense silence anymore. “Are you going to tell me what’s wrong, or do I have to drag it out of you?”
“Nothing’s wrong.”
“Reese, you won’t even glance at me without looking like you want to bolt. Why?”
She runs her hand over her scalp and tugs on the ends of her hair. “I don’t know...I’m nervous, okay? I panicked after my heatwave ended.”
“Why?” I ask again. Then a thought occurs to me, and it’s me who’s suddenly nervous. “Did I scare you? Hurt you?”
“No,” she insists. “It’s nothing like that. You were amazing. Perfect, actually. I just...I’m embarrassed that I basically forced you to have sex with me.”
Is that what she thinks? I grab her arm and stop her from walking so that she looks at me. “You did not force me.” With my free hand, I cup her jaw and turn her face up. “You choosing me to fuck you during your heatwave was the sexiest damn thing in my life. I would’ve wanted to tear apart any other male if you’d gone to them. Me and my animal wanted you from the start. And we want you still.”
Her big brown eyes widen. “You do?”
I nod, and she lets out a relieved breath of air. “Holey Swiss cheese, that’s good to hear.”
I can’t resist anymore, and I lean down and nibble on her plush bottom lip before swiping my tongue across it. “Good. No more avoiding me?”
She gives me a smile. “No more.”
We start walking again, and I notice that she’s closer to me now so that our arms brush against each other. “Just so we’re clear…” she begins. “Is this a casual thing? Are we just having fun, nothing serious, no commitments, or…?”
She lets the question hang in the air, and I’m suddenly reminded of her car ride. I round on her before we can reach the sanctuary’s path. “Is that what you want?”
She bites her lip. “You answer first.”
I narrow my eyes and take a step closer to her. “I saw you with Stinger that day.”
A frown appears between her brows. “What?”
“You were in the car with him. Laughing. I didn’t like it.”
“Oh.”
“I don’t want something casual. I don’t want you having fun with anyone other than me.”
She blinks at my admission, and I’m worried that she’s about to say the opposite. That she does just want to date casually and date around with other people. Just the
