Reclaiming Quinn - Parker Williams Page 0,29
way.”
A sly smile crossed Gareth’s lips. “Yes, you may.” He winked. “And Quinn? I’m proud of you for stepping up.”
While he wanted to take joy in the Supreme Alpha saying he was proud, the truth was Quinn didn’t care. He wanted Deke to be proud of him. He wanted Deke home where he belonged. He wanted….
He wanted to know what having a mate meant.
When Deke touched him, Quinn relaxed. He had gotten over the fear that Deke would hurt him for the most part. Now he wanted Deke’s hands all over him. He wanted Deke to teach him what he meant about sex, and how it was different from what Ryker and Kristopher had done to him.
“Okay, Rupert. You’re done here. Let’s go.”
Rupert clicked his heels. “At once, Alpha.”
He removed his name tag, walked up to the desk, and handed it over to the same guy Lyram had scared.
“I quit.”
“What? But—”
“He said he quit.” Gareth crossed his arms over his immense chest. “Is there going to be a problem?”
The guy swallowed hard. “No, sir. I’m sorry, sir.”
Gareth reached into his pocket and pulled out a wallet. He counted off several bills and handed them to the man.
“This should cover any inconvenience.”
Brown eyes widened. “Oh, but… I mean…. Yes, sir. Thank you.” He peered around, then leaned in closer. “Is everyone in your group scary?”
“I’m not,” Quinn promised.
That made Gareth chuckle deep in his throat. “Quinn is probably the sweetest person you’ll ever meet. And if you think I’m scary, you should see my husband. Even I won’t mess with him.”
The man shook his head. “No, thank you.” He looked over at Rupert. “Where will you be going?”
Rupert indicated Gareth with a thumb. “I’m going to work for him. Me and my family will be moving as soon as we take care of some business here.”
He gave Rupert a warm smile. “I hope it all goes like you want. It was a pleasure working with you. Now go on. I have to call the bell captain. That should be fun.”
“If he has a problem,” Gareth said, “tell him to contact me. I’ll be in Deke Simmons’s room.”
He chuckled. “I’m tempted to do it, just to see his reaction when he gets a load of you. But no, I won’t tell him Rupe left with you.” He drew in a sharp breath, his gaze traveling up Gareth’s enormous body. “Is there anything else I can do for you, sir?”
Gareth paused a moment. “Yes, I’m going to need two rollaway beds brought to the suite.”
“Oh, I don’t mind giving up my room, Gareth,” Quinn said. “I can sleep on the couch or find a different room.”
“No,” Gareth growled. “With everything going on, I don’t want anyone to be alone. You will stay in Deke’s room, Sean and I will take the other bedroom, and the extra beds are for Lyram and Rupert.” He nodded to the desk clerk. “The rollaways will be fine.”
“I’ll have them brought up right away, sir.” He smiled at Rupert. “I wish you the best.”
“Thank you,” Rupert said softly. He turned to Gareth, who led them toward the elevator. “I guess I’m all yours now.”
His gaze bounced between Rupert and Quinn. “Unless Lyram has a problem with it, I think you’re going to be Quinn’s. Seems to me you both need someone to keep you out of trouble back in Lydon.”
He grinned, and Quinn felt a weight slide off him.
Now if he could get Deke back, life would be perfect.
Chapter Eight
DEKE SAT at the table, chopping chunks of chicken to put into a stew. It would be easier if they’d taken his chair, but he would make do with what he had. Like this “kitchen,” for lack of a better word. It was really nothing more than a hotplate with a pot and pan, a few cracked and worn utensils, and a tub of water Deke had to wash dishes in. All the while he toiled, Deke imagined Quinn having to do things like this, and it made his blood boil.
Though he sensed someone behind him, Deke didn’t see the hit coming. Once across the back of the head, and when he turned to glare, he got another across the cheek.
“You are one stupid fuck. Alpha Klein told you to have dinner ready by now. Just because you’re a fucking cripple doesn’t mean you don’t have to pull your weight around here.”
There were few in Deke’s life prior to Lydon who thought he needed to be coddled, and those
