Rebecca (Angel Creek Christmas Brides #15) - Lily Graison Page 0,49
thought it was. You’re still the same person and I can’t imagine spending the rest of my life eating anyone else's horrible food.”
She snorted a laugh, then fell into a fit of giggles before flinging her arms around his neck and holding tight. “I love you too, Caleb and there’s no one I’d rather burn eggs for than you.”
“Then it's settled. Once you’re back to your old self, we’ll get you a last name. Rebecca Reilly.” He cupped her cheek in his hand. “I like the sound of that.”
She grinned, and leaned in, laying her forehead against his own. “So do I.”
Epilogue
Their Christmas wedding never happened. The snow storm prevented them from doing much of anything but once she was back to her old self and the sun had come out and melted some of the snow away, they’d headed to the church.
There were only a handful of people in attendance but she didn’t mind. The only people who mattered were Caleb, Amanda and Agatha.
There were no flowers this time of year but Amanda had insisted she have a bouquet. Her new daughter had cut a sprig of holly with red berries from a bush near the house and laid it with a few small clippings from the tree they’d decorated. She’d clumsily tied it all together with a red ribbon and presented it to her with a cheerful smile on her face.
Standing with Caleb in front of the preacher felt surreal. All her life she’d mattered to no one. Now she was marrying a man who loved her despite the fact she’d lied to him about who she was.
She’d seen Diana Hale a few days after her confession to Caleb. The woman had forgiven her but something in her eyes when she looked at her and Caleb said she was still bitter about how things had played out. That bitterness hadn’t lasted. Diana met a man at the boarding house who’d taken an interest in her. Last they’d heard, the two had married before leaving town.
“I now pronounce you husband and wife.”
The ceremony was over much too soon. Her eyes stung with unshed tears as she stared up at Caleb. She’d spent her entire life waiting to be loved. To have a family to call her own and now she had everything she’d ever wanted.
Caleb pulled her into his arms and kissed her as if no one was watching. It was the perfect beginning to the rest of their lives.
She’d always heard that Christmas was magical. In Angel Creek it was.
