Playing For Keeps - Alley Ciz Page 0,66

close to Grayson. Without missing a beat, he filches food from the plate, much the same way he does to Kay at lunch all the time. However, unlike Kay, Tessa shifts her hand closer, making it easier for them to share.

“For reals.” Savvy isn’t far behind with her own feast. “I think Bette ordered every single thing on the room service menu.”

We make our way around, saying hi and filling plates of food before we find our own seats around the suite. Making the most of every second, I pull Kay onto my lap, letting her hold my plate so I can hold her.

The game controllers change hands a few times as people lose and a new game starts while we catch up on everything and nothing.

Bette is putting the final touches on the football surrounding the large 91 shaved into the hair on the back of Kev’s head when there’s a knock on the door. Alex, being the closest, offers to answer it, and promptly loses his shit…well, more like goes still as a statue.

“Are you sure this is the correct room, babe?” a feminine voice asks.

“Yeah.” I recognize Miles Dennings’ voice from earlier today. “I think he’s just starstruck.”

Kay giggles, hand flying to her face as she snorts water through her nose.

“Not for me.” Miles chuckles. “For you, babe.” There’s the smack of a kiss. “I swear you forget how fucking hot you are.”

“DeeDee,” Bette cries, rushing to the door and pushing a still stunned Alex out of the way.

Can’t say I blame him for standing there gaping like a fish as Denise Regan, now Denise Regan-Dennings, steps into the suite. The American-born Brazilian looks a lot like her Victoria’s Secret co-worker Alessandra Ambrosio. With her chocolate brown hair and matching eyes, her natural golden skin seems to glow. She is even more stunning in person than on the magazine covers she graces.

“Betty Boop,” Denise returns in the same manner, the two women bouncing as they hug.

Miles, doing what any man in a long-term relationship with a woman does, steps around them, not interrupting their reunion.

Pfft. Listen to you talking like you’re this expert on long-term relationships. It’s been four months and you broke up once.

I mentally flip off my inner coach.

“Damn, Bette.” Miles circles Kev, checking out the nearly complete shaved artwork. “I didn’t think it was possible, but you’re even better than the last time I saw your work.”

“Thanks.” Arm in arm, the ladies stroll over to join Miles, and Bette makes the formal introductions. “Alex.” Bette snaps her fingers in his direction. “You wanna snap out of your stupor and rejoin the land of the living?”

He shakes his head as if to clear it while the rest of us don’t even bother to restrain our laughter.

“Where’s our girl?” Denise looks around the room.

“Hey DeeDee.” Kay extends an arm up to wave, remaining snuggled in my lap. I love that she’s stayed within touching distance the entire time I’ve been in the suite.

“Why does she get to call you DeeDee?” Miles complains around a mouthful of food.

“Letter nicknames are her thing.” Denise shrugs without a care, moving closer to Kay and lifting one of her feet in the air. “You’re wearing the boots I sent you.”

I drop my gaze to Kay’s leg, following the long toned line of it to where her stretchy black leggings disappear inside a pair of simple black leather mid-calf cowboy boots.

“I figured when in Texas…” Kay says with a wink. I lean in close, whispering to her how much I do like it when she rides me reverse cowgirl, nipping at the back of her shoulder when I feel her shiver at my dirty words.

“But I’m your husband,” Miles complains again. “You withheld sex for three days when I tried calling you D—” He cuts himself off when Denise arches a brow. “That,” he finishes with instead.

Like there’s this weird psychic connection that only comes from having two Xs in your chromosomes, every female in the room manages to lock eyes then promptly fall into a fit of giggles. With all that’s happened this last month—the drama leading up to the rivalry game, Chrissy/Tina showing up, everything after the game with Liam, the hospital, Kay’s recovery, all the legal stuff, and finals—it’s been a while since I’ve gotten to see Kay this light and carefree.

Denise struts over to her husband much the same way she does down a runway, the entire room falling silent as we watch the lithe way she
