Playing For Keeps - Alley Ciz Page 0,63

and automatically I bring my hands back to cradle her ass, my helmet falling to the ground as I squeeze her to me tighter.

My tongue strokes inside her mouth, the unsurprising sweet taste of coffee lingering on her tongue. She hums in approval, the sound and vibration of it going straight to my dick as her legs squeeze tight against my sides. The world fades away as I get lost in the kiss, and the only thing on my mind is what’s the fastest way I can have her naked and under me. Hell, I’ll take her up against a wall if it’ll have me inside her sooner.

“Little D,” a deep voice says around a hearty chuckle. “I don’t think you dry-humping your boyfriend is the type of touchdown your brother wants to hear about.”

The interruption of our reunion causes Kay to lift her lips from mine, and she twists in my arms to look at the person who spoke. Peeking through the spot over her shoulder, I see that, sure enough, it is Miles Dennings.

“Really?” The eyebrow closest to me rises with Kay’s sarcastic question. “I’ve actually heard he’s quite the fan of…those types of touchdowns.”

Bette, who’s standing with her arm looped around Miles’ waist, blushes crimson. Oh there’s definitely a story there.

As she unwinds her limbs from around me, I help Kay lower herself to the ground, cursing the padding of my uniform for creating a barrier against feeling the full slide of her body against mine.

“You’re sweaty.” Her nose gets the cutest crinkle at the top of it.

“I thought you weren’t flying in until tomorrow night?” I ask.

Both of us seem to fall into stating the obvious, but in my defense, it’s the only thing my brain can think of since most of my blood has redirected itself to my dick.

Her kiss-swollen lips twist to the side as she makes spirit fingers with her hands. “Surprise?” It comes out more question than statement, as if she’s not sure if I’ll be happy she’s here early. Yeah fucking right.

“The best fucking kind.” Her answering smile is brighter than all the lights around the stadium, her gray eyes dancing with happiness as she holds my gaze.

Our private moment is broken yet again as the guys rush her and pass her between them for a round of bear hugs, the nose crinkle back in full force. “You guys stink.”

“Wrong.” Alex pulls her into a headlock. “That’s the smell of awesome, Smalls.”

Kay’s eye roll says otherwise.

Rescuing my girl from our friends, I loop an arm around her body and tuck her close to my side, pretending she didn’t complain about me smelling, and start to guide us in the direction of the locker room. “I can’t believe you’re here.”

Her head tilts back on my bicep to meet my eyes, the scent of peppermint wafting up as her hair fans out along my muscle. “It may have always been the plan to try to come today.”

“Why didn’t you tell me?”

“With so many pieces to coordinate, I wasn’t sure if it was a done deal. I didn’t want to get your hopes up only to have to be like just kidding.” She dips her chin, dropping her gaze to the floor. “I know in a few months we’ll have to figure out how to manage living in different states—”

My gut clenches at the mention of the not-so-distant future.

“—and all I knew was, if I could do something about it, I didn’t want to spend our first Christmas that way.”

My feet stop moving as I stare down at her in shock, the urge to really talk to her, to explain these aren’t mere thoughts I’ve been kicking around getting stronger. Not wanting to fight and ruin this unexpected surprise, I go with, “E was okay with you not spending Christmas with him?”

“Yeah. The Crabs are away this weekend anyway, and he was the one who insisted on buying everyone plane tickets. He even purchased tickets and got a separate suite for the Graysons to join us tomorrow.” Now it makes sense why Grant and his brother were able to be here.

“So…” I jerk my chin as our friends pass us. “You know Miles Dennings, huh?” I keep my question causal, not giving her any ammunition to use for teasing me about being a fanboy. She only shrugs.

“I love that you’re so blasé about my pro connections.” A furrow forms between her blonde brows. “You make me feel normal.” There’s a sad underlying tension to
