it was to have his broad, powerful body over mine as our dicks hardened between us.
We’re doing this. We’re really doing this.
Not just fooling around. We’re really doing this.
It was far, far too soon to know where this thing could go and what kind of feelings could grow between us. This could be a sexual flash in the pan. It could be something that lasted for decades. It could land somewhere in between.
That kind of uncertainty was a little terrifying, but it was exhilarating too. Nothing beat the excitement of a new relationship.
No matter what the future held, I was in Jase’s bed tonight.
And right here, right now, everything was perfect.
Chapter 15
Jase
“Hey. Kelly.” Collier smacked my shoulder. “Where are you today, man?”
I shook myself and looked around the crowded locker room. How long had I been spacing out here? Long enough I had one skate on and the other still in my hands. “Um.” I cleared my throat and focused on pulling on my other skate. “Just didn’t get a lot of sleep, I guess.”
“Oh yeah?” Collier had a big grin in his voice, and when I glanced up—oh yeah, he was grinning like an idiot. He dropped onto the bench next to me. “You got laid last night, didn’t you?” Before I could answer, he called out, “Hey guys, guess who got a piece last night?”
Of course that was met with the usual shit-talk and high fives. I just laughed and flipped Collier off; wasn’t like any of them would listen if I tried to deny it. In fact, if I did try to deny it, I’d never hear the end of it.
So I just let them talk their shit and smack my shoulders and tell me they hoped I’d “saved something for tonight” as if none of them ever showed up bleary-eyed because they’d had a long night in someone’s bed. And I mean, they were right. I had gotten laid last night, and my mind was still fixated on Devin, and I really did need to get my head in the game. The literal game. I could get lost in everything I’d done with Devin when my team wasn’t depending on me to keep the puck away from our net and put it into the other one.
But if someone found out about us…
Except, how could they find out?
Well, maybe if my dumb ass hadn’t invited him to join the team after tonight’s game…
I cringed at the thought. Before we’d gone our separate ways this morning, Devin had made an offhand comment that he’d be here tonight, so without thinking about it, I’d suggested he meet up with me and the team afterward. They way his eyes had lit up at the idea? No way was I taking it back. And I wanted him to come hang out.
But maybe that wasn’t the smartest thing when we were trying to keep this quiet.
Not much I could do about it now, though. I’d just have to play it cool, which was something I was really, really…not good at.
I’d have to try, though, so I laced up my skates, taped my stick, and when it was time, joined my team on the ice for warm-ups.
As I always did during the superstitiously strict pre-game rituals, I waved at the fans as I skated by the glass. Toward the end of warm-ups, Maddox and I would try to push some pucks up between the net and the glass so they’d fall down where the kids could catch them, so there was always a huge crowd right at the glass.
As I waved at them, I zeroed in on a particular face in the crowd, and I damn near slammed into Maddox.
I recovered fast, though, and skated after Maddox so we could pass the puck back and forth a few times. Hopefully no one had noticed. Though when I glanced at Devin again—oh yeah. He’d noticed.
It wasn’t like I hadn’t known he’d be here. And this wasn’t the first game where I’d been aware of Devin in the stands. It was definitely the first since I’d found out what it was like to sleep with him, though.
What the hell? I wasn’t a teenager who’d just lost my virginity. I’d had plenty of sex in my life.
Just…not sex with a man.
Not sex with Devin.
Not sex that had even tried to drive me as wild as everything I’d done with him.
I shook myself and continued with my usual warm-up routine, which mostly consisted of chasing a few
