My Grumpy Old Bear - Jayda Marx Page 0,26

“Are you okay, baby?”

“So...fucking...good.” I smiled at him and pecked his lips before wiping down his junk. I tossed the towel into the trash and got Brooks all tucked back in and zipped with zero help from my blissed out man. Just as I was about to ask him again if he was okay, he leaned forward and kissed me. It was slow, sloppy, lazy and perfect.

“Hey, I wonder if our food is done,” I thought out loud when he released my lips.

“I forgot about food,” he admitted and I laughed out loud.

“Too busy getting something else big and meaty, huh?” I asked, bouncing my eyebrows. Brooks groaned and rolled his eyes, but I saw the way his lips twitched up. “Whatever, that was hilarious. Come on honeybear, we don’t want Brent thinking we skipped out on our bill.”

I took his hand and led him back out into the dining room. When we stepped inside, we were met by a round of applause from the men sitting near the bathroom. Brent set his tray on a nearby table and put his fingers in his mouth to let out a loud whistle. I wasn’t embarrassed, and gave a series of bows to my adoring fans, who laughed and clapped harder. I kissed Brooks’ cheek, and the man looked prouder than I’d ever seen him as he strutted back to our booth.

When we sat down, Brent delivered our food and his congratulations. He said he hadn’t heard something that hot go down in there the whole four years he’d worked there. He also told us Bush-beard, who was sitting at the table directly in front of the restroom, had paid for our meal.

Brooks and I talked and laughed as we destroyed our burgers, which were delicious. The satisfied grin and gleam in Brooks’ eyes didn’t budge until Brent returned to clear away our plates and asked for my number. I thought my man was going to lose his shit until Brent explained that the owner of the bar had asked for it because he wanted to invite me back to sing sometime. Then Brooks looked proud as punch again. It also helped soothe my savage beast when Brent told us his husband would kill him if he ever found a random phone number in his pocket.

After we were so full we had to waddle back out to my car, I reached across the console and held Brooks’ hand all the way back to his house. I decided this was definitely the best date of my life.

Chapter Seven

Brooks

I felt like a damn teenager the way my stomach was up in knots as I waited for Noah to pick me up. When he dropped me off after dinner last night, he asked if he could take me out again and I jumped at the offer. Yesterday was hands-down the best day of my life. Our date was sweet, fun and hot as hell. The ten minutes we spent together in the bathroom was the sexiest, best thing I’d ever experienced. When we actually have sex, it may kill me. Worth it.

Things got heated between us again when Noah kissed me goodnight on my front step. I wanted to invite him in and have my filthy way with him, but also didn’t think my old dick could ‘rise to the occasion’ again so soon. Besides, there was no rush. Things were developing perfectly between us and I didn’t want to push anything and risk ruining it. Sunshine seemed perfectly content with just the smoking hot kiss, though he did seem to walk a little funny back to his car.

The sound of Noah’s tires in my driveway snapped me back to the present. I shook off my nerves and took a deep breath. When he rapped on my front door, I waited a moment to answer it. I didn’t want to give away the fact that I was standing there waiting for him and look as desperate as I actually was.

“Good morning, honeybear,” Noah greeted with a bright smile. His arms were tucked behind his back again and my heart raced. I loved the flowers he gave me yesterday, but I doubted he’d brought more. My stomach flip-flopped as I wondered what he did bring me. Dammit, I’m being selfish again!

“Good morning, Sunshine,” I answered after way too long a pause. Noah didn’t seem to mind. He smiled wider and leaned in for a kiss, which I happily gave.

“Are you trying to peek at what I
