My Dad's College Friends - Cassandra Dee Page 0,27
hang up quietly, and I look at Ryan and Reese. The three of us share stunned looks. I ask, “Did that just happen or am I dreaming?” Still in disbelief, I add, “Did my dad just tell me that not only does he want to be in our lives going forward, but he’s sorry for how he’s been acting the last six months? I just can’t believe it. This is way more than I thought would happen. I don’t even know what to do now.”
Brushing my cheek, Ryan answers for me, “What you do, sweetheart, is spend some time reconnecting with your father. This is what you’ve wanted for the last six months and now, by some miracle, it’s happening. This is a good thing, Amelia, right?”
I thought for a moment. Is it a good thing? I mean, how was I supposed to trust my dad after all of the bullshit he’s put us through? Did I really believe that Michael was going to be a changed man now just because he missed me? Was it really that easy to change his mind?
But then my heart heaves, and I take a deep, shuddering breath. Honestly, there’s no way to know for sure, so the only thing I can do is accept Mike’s apology at face value. I love my dad and I’ve missed him so much these last six months. There’s so much that I want to share with him as Ryan, Reese, and I grow into our relationship, and now that we’re having a child, there’s even more to look forward to. So why was I looking this gift horse in the mouth?
But only time will tell. Looking at my handsome men, I reply, “Of course this is a good thing. What else could I possibly want? My dad is back in my life, and we’re expecting a beautiful child in a few months. Plus, I love you, did I mention that? You are my everything, Reese and Ryan.”
Immediately my men surround me, making me feel wanted and so dear to them.
“I think you have that backwards, honey,” says Reese. “You have made us the happiest men in the world. We never thought that we would find a woman who was willing to date both of us, and the life we’ve created with you has been beyond our wildest dreams. We love you, Amelia, now and forever.”
Ryan adds, “Sweetheart, words can’t convey how grateful we are that you’ve come into our lives. With your love, we’ve become better men, and the tiff with Michael is just a blip. Everything will work out, just wait and see.”
At their words, I pull them close for deep kisses to show my love and appreciation, knowing that today was just the first day of many more perfect days to come. Who would have thought that that I would become the luckiest woman in the world? Yet, here I am in an amazing relationship with two gorgeous men and my dad back in my life. I’ll take that miracle any day. With nothing left to ask for, I leaned into Reese’s and Ryan’s arms, secure and happy in our life and looking forward to the amazing things to come.
Epilogue
Amelia
A year later.
As I lay back to catch my breath after an energetic lovemaking session, I giggle a bit. Some things never change. Here we are, rushing to squeeze in a quickie while our daughter naps. It seems we still can’t get enough of one another even though we have a baby now.
Reaching over to kiss my temple, Reese murmurs, “I will never get tired of making love to you, Amelia. I swear, I still don’t understand how we got so lucky. First you, and now we have the world’s most beautiful little girl in the world too.”
Kissing my other cheek, Ryan adds, “Maybe we can think about having another one? Would you like that, sweetheart?”
Shocked, my eyes jerk toward him. “Are you serious?”
Shrugging his shoulders, he grins.
“I don’t see why not. We have plenty of space in this huge house, and I’m sure Michelle would love to have a little brother or sister to play with. So why not? We adore you and would love nothing more than to have another child with you. Seeing you huge and pregnant again would make us so happy. What do you think, baby girl?”
I look at Reese, and he merely nods and grins in agreement.
“It would be amazing, sweetheart,” he adds.
I swallow because how do you answer that
