fucking lost it. Right there on the backroad, I shifted, clamping my jaw down on his arm.
Deon slugged me in the head, but I refused to let go. I sank my teeth so deep I felt bone. Rage welled inside me for Deon trapping Fitch on that street corner, for fucking with him outside that store, for trying to run me over that night, and for being a rotten son of a bitch.
But especially for that threat.
I let go of his arm and used my weight to shove him backward then went for the jugular. From the corner of my eye, I saw headlights approaching but didn’t care.
I wanted Deon dead.
I wanted Antonio dead.
I wanted to take Fitch home and make love to him, to show him just how much he meant to me, how much his words had made my heart swell.
And I hadn’t been kidding around. I wanted to marry him, to keep him permanently at my side. To make his family mine and to give him the family who wasn’t blood related but had been there for me since childhood.
As Deon went down, I clamped onto his throat, tearing skin from bone. It wasn’t until I heard Max yelling that I backed away and saw Fitch standing by the hood of Deon’s car, looking wide-eyed at me.
“You really are a wolf.”
Reese was the first one there, placing his body in front of Fitch’s. I knew what Reese was doing. Protecting Fitch from seeing the carnage. But my human was stronger that he thought.
Even so, I would protect him from this side of my world. Like Max had said, I wanted to make his life as normal as possible.
I shifted and wiped the blood from my mouth.
“Fitch said Deon crashed into you.” Max approached and tossed a backpack at me. Inside was clothing for me to put on. We all carried a go-bag just in case, and I was thankful.
After sliding the jeans and T-shirt on, no shoes though, I pulled Fitch into my arms. “How badly are you hurt?”
“My bad arm is killing me, but other than that, I’m okay.”
I touched the dried blood in his hair. “We’re going to the hospital just to have you looked at.”
He had become the center of my world, my very heartbeat, and soon Ridgeview would know that Fitch Oliver belonged to me. The human was off-limits, including his family, and I would kill anyone dumb enough to threaten what I cherished.

Fitch…
After an amazing meal at Carobano’s, Gabe and I went home. Yes, home. It had been a month since the incident on that backroad, and our relationship had taken off from there. Just last weekend he’d asked me to move in with him, and I had agreed.
Only because we fucked like rabbits and twice Uncle Glen had walked in on us. One of those times he’d been naked, and I’d lost my boner.
Tell me your mood wouldn’t have been instantly killed by sagging balls and a tinfoil hat.
But at least I was now out of that annoying sling and hadn’t suffered anything from that car accident aside from a small cut on my head.
“I need to get some rest.” I toed my sneakers off and set them by the front door. “I have to work tomorrow.”
Gabe took the leftovers to the fridge and stored them. “It’s only seven. You have plenty of time to get some sleep.”
“You always keep me up half the night,” I reminded him, though I wasn’t complaining. I didn’t think I would ever get enough of him. Not in this lifetime. He’d stolen his way into my heart, and I couldn’t fathom a day without him.
He even texted me while I was at work just to see how my day was going or to talk dirty, telling me what he was going to do to me when I got home.
Speaking of work, Cole had come up with inventive ways to keep an eye on me when I wasn’t with Gabe. Yes, he was still my babysitter, and I’d grown to like him.
So had my friend Asa. From what I’d heard, the two were seeing each other.
“You love when I keep you awake.” Gabe walked up behind me and slid his arms around me. “I never hear you complaining.”
“That’s because I always have your dick in my mouth.” I felt myself blush as he kissed my nape. Then he turned me and took my lips in a blazing kiss that left me panting and
