bedroom.

Chris pretended to be shocked. “I wouldn’t dream of keeping you from finishing your excruciatingly long and unnecessary beauty routine.”

I pulled the covers back on the bed. “You ruined it.”

I got under the covers and stretched out. I had a lumpy twin mattress at my apartment with a comforter that had been chewed up by the parrot. This bed was heaven. I snuggled back against the food pillows.

“You’re supposed to snuggle me, not the pillows,” Chris growled.

“Now who’s jealous?” I quipped.

“Can we please get the shot?” Zane begged.

Chris reached across the bed, grabbed me, and hauled me across the mattress, wrapping his strong arms around me. I squeaked, as he nuzzled my hair, spooning his body against mine.

This is not real, I reminded my libido as it woke up, realized I was literally separated from a real live human male only by a thin layer of cotton, and threw a party.

Not.

Gosh, his body was so freaking hard!

Real.

Chris walked the camera crews out after they got the shots they needed. I lay in a daze on his bed. It had been a long time since I’d been that close to a guy. No, a man. Chris was a perfectly formed, sexy, muscular, fantastic-smelling man. And if I hadn’t been mistaken, the hard thing pressed against me in the too-brief moment he had been plastered against me meant he could be good for things besides cuddling.

Chris sauntered back into the room and turned the lights down. I sat half up on the pillows and watched, mouth agape, possibly drooling a little bit, as he slipped his sweatpants off and crawled onto the bed. One strong arm propped up that perfect body as he leaned over me, the heat from his bare skin radiating through the thin cotton of my T-shirt.

We were doing it? Here? Now? We hadn’t even kissed!

I didn’t care. I wanted him.

“Are you just going to lie there?” Chris murmured.

“Er…um…” My brain short-circuited.

What exactly were you supposed to do with a man? The last time I’d had sex, which had been a super long time ago, I had pretty much just laid there. Not that the guy I had been with allowed me to do much more. He did three pumps then collapsed beside me and went to sleep. It was over before I’d even realized what was happening. Now Chris wanted me to do stuff.

I reached up to run a hand from his jaw down that perfect chest.

Crap, crap, crap!

“Okay that’s enough,” Chris said roughly, practically jumping up off of me and reaching for the light.

“Enough?” I croaked.

“For the footage.” He pointed to the red blinking light of the video camera. “We’re supposed to be providing salacious footage for the TV show.”

“Oh, right.”

I lay back down on his bed.

“So…” Chris said.

I looked up at the ceiling. “So?”

Chris blew out an annoyed breath.

“So, I told you I don’t do sleepovers. You need to get your stuffed food products and get the fuck out of my bed.”

Chris

I ran a hand through my hair as Grace quickly gathered up all the giant food plushies and scurried out of my bedroom.

I hadn’t actually wanted her to leave. I wanted her to stay. I wanted to feel not just her hands on my bare chest, but all of her bare skin against mine.

But I would not sleep with her. I needed the annulment. Besides, I couldn’t have her thinking there was something between us.

But though she was out of my bedroom, she still remained in my thoughts. I tossed and turned all night. I could still smell her on the sheets; I could practically feel her next to me in the bed.

She’s just down the hall, my mind tempted me. She wanted you—it was so obvious from that little hitch in her breath when she touched you that she wanted you. If you went into her bed, wrapped yourself around her, you know she would welcome you with open arms and open…something else.

I flopped over, trying to find a cool spot on the mattress.

I wonder what she sounds like when she comes.

I was desperate to find out.

I must have fallen asleep because my alarm went off and it was early morning. I hit the snooze button and rolled over.

I don’t have any meetings scheduled this morning, my brain thought hazily as I reached out to hit the snooze button again.

I really should get up. All the other big-time hedge fund managers are up early.

I hit the snooze button again. My arm dangled off the
