and I carry first-aid kits in our SUVs that include a supply of the medicine Jackson mentioned.”

She brushed her lips over his. “I have a tray ready for you and Owen. Roast beef sandwiches, chips, and coffee.”

“Sounds fantastic,” Caleb said. He slid his gun into the holster and clapped Owen on the shoulder. “If you’re lucky, I’ll leave you one of those sandwiches.”

Jackson returned with his medic bag slung over one shoulder, eyebrows raising when he saw Gigi in Owen’s arms. “Is that a friendly hug or the sign of something more?”

“She’s mine,” Owen said, tone flat.

The medic snorted. “Of course she is. Just didn’t know if you had staked your claim since the last time I was here. Looks like you have. Congratulations to both of you.” He opened his bag and pulled out a small packet that he handed Gigi. “Take two every six hours. You have enough to last for three days. How’s your vision?”

“No problems.”

With a nod, he turned to Owen. “Need a hand with anything? Wolf Pack is on a training rotation. I can take a few days to help if you need me.”

“I’ve been awake for close to 48 hours, and Caleb has been on duty all day. Levi will arrive soon for watch duty, and Elliot is scheduled to take over the watch at midnight, but both of them worked a full shift today. David, Caleb, and Elliot were on watch last night while I stayed with Gigi in the hospital.”

“I’ll take the watch tonight. Tell the others to rest.”

“Are you hungry, Jackson?” Gigi asked. The least she could do was feed the medic if he planned to stay up all night to protect her and allow Owen to sleep.

“Now that you mention it, I’m starving.” His lips curved. “Zane threatened me with bodily harm if I didn’t get your phone to you, so I didn’t stop for food on the way to Archer.” He slid one hand into his pocket and pulled out a phone.

When she turned the phone over, Gigi gasped. A picture of her B & B had been placed inside a clear protective cover.

“Nice,” Owen said. “Zane used the picture from your website. Do you like it?”

“It’s wonderful. I’ll have to thank him for his thoughtfulness. I’ll send Zane a text later.” She stood on her tiptoes to kiss Jackson’s cheek. “Thanks for being the delivery man.”

“You’re welcome.”

Gigi headed back to the kitchen. “I’ll fix a meal for you, Jackson. I’m sure Owen will want to update you on what’s been happening around here.”

She talked to Emma about a new idea for the gardens on the grounds and teased Caleb as she prepared another plate for Jackson along with a to-go cup of coffee, then carried the tray with food and drinks into her sitting room and sat beside Owen, listening while the men talked and ate.

“Have you contacted Zane for tech help?” Jackson asked. “No one is better at computer work unless it’s my teammate, Jon.”

“I called him. He completed some searches for me and has more to go. He cleaned up some lousy security footage at the restaurant where Toni was transferred from one vehicle to another, and ran the images of the kidnappers through the Fortress facial recognition program.”

“Did he get a hit?”

He nodded. “Devin Berry and Leo Daniels kidnapped Toni.”

“What kind of records do they have?”

“Long ones, everything from petty larceny to attempted murder.”

Jackson frowned. “Prison time?”

“Not for the last ten years. They have powerful friends with high-priced lawyers skilled at keeping them out of jail. Their vics also have a habit of recanting their testimony or disappearing.”

Holy cow. Gigi wrapped her arms around her middle, sick at the thought of the danger Toni was in at this moment. Devin and Berry didn’t come up with the idea to kidnap her on their own.

“Who do they work for?” Jackson asked.

“Zane doesn’t have an answer for that question yet. Whoever it is, he has deep pockets.”

Caleb stepped further into the apartment and closed the door. “Want me to hunt for the employer, Owen?”

He nodded. “Coordinate with Zane. You two can divide and conquer. With both of you on the trail, the guy doesn’t stand a chance of hiding.”

“What about the vehicle they drove?” Jackson asked. “Did you get the plate number?”

Owen rubbed the back of his neck, grimacing. “The plates are registered to a rental company based at the Knoxville Airport.”

“Oh, no.” Gigi looked at Owen. “Does that mean what I think it does?” Had Devin
