Chapter 5

“Can I tempt you awake with some coffee, Daisy?” Jamie’s voice broke into my sleepy state and my heart instantly raced from the sound of his low gravelly voice.

Stirring, I slowly opened my eyes until I caught sight of the man who had stolen my heart, and they pinged opened wide. My mouth felt so dry I almost swallowed my tongue when I saw how appealing he looked. Damn.

Standing in my doorframe, fresh from the shower, his strong muscular body glowed from the steam and the heat radiating from the bathroom behind him. A few rivulets of water ran down his torso from his wet hair and disappeared into the small pink towel wrapped around his waist. The large bulge I found protruding from it distracted me for a few moments because the towel barely covered his balls.

I groaned in frustration that he looked so appealing, yet I felt kind of overwhelmed with sadness because he’d had to leave me again. An ache settled within my heart as I rolled over and shoved my head under my pillow, not wanting him to see how disappointed I felt not to be going with him.

“Daisy? Coffee? I can’t tempt you?”

You already have.

How could I not be tempted when he stood half naked, looking like he was primed and ready to be ridden, at my bedroom door. Fuck.

“Yeah, that would be grand,” I muttered from under the pillow as I bit my knuckle to stop myself groaning aloud at the racy sight he made.

I heard him slowly pad his way across to me and stand beside the bed for a few seconds. “If you put toast in the toaster, I’ll come and scramble some eggs.”

My muffled voice sounded ridiculous to me and I imagined him grinning at how stupid I must have looked. A few seconds later, I realized he hadn’t moved.

“Go and put some clothes on, Jamie,” I ground out, my agony that we had so little time making me sound frustrated. “I’d hate you to burn yourself, my liability insurance doesn’t extend to naked rock stars.”

“Glad your insurance doesn’t see me as a liability.”

“Still thinking on that. This isn’t the movies. You don’t get to rock up looking so damned hot with a few flirty moves and think I’ll fall on my back with my legs open.”

“Pity,” he replied, chuckling. “Wait … you nearly did, but you stayed on your side.” My body stiffened in response to his cocky comment. “That was a joke, by the way. Come on, Daisy. I was desperate for that four months to end so that I could see you again, and you’re not even looking at me this morning.”

“I did look … I’m just not sure if I can handle what I saw.” Of course, I could handle him, but I prayed for God not to strike me down dead in my bed for lying again.

“We both know you can.” His comment made my heart stutter. I turned over and sat up, facing him.

“Maybe I’ve forgotten what to do with you, it’s been that long.”

“Then it’s all the more reason for you to come the US. I’m a bit rusty, but I know from your pyjama top you remember the missionary position,” he replied with a cocky smirk and winked.

When I glanced down at myself I cringed, remembering Jamie had rolled over in the night and hogged the covers. I’d grabbed my pyjama top off the floor and pulled it on to get warm. I hadn’t noticed which top I’d put on in my rush to get into bed before him the night before, and made a mental note to throw Maria’s stupid gift to me out with the trash.

“Missionary isn’t my favorite position,” I snapped.

“Whatever,” he chuckled. “I don’t have any set preference, just name your poison, baby, and I’ll take care of you any way I can get you.”

“Is that so?” I asked coyly, and he sat down on the bed, grabbed the hem of my pyjama top, and stripped it over my head.

“Much better,” he remarked, perusing my breasts. A thrill of desire shot through me from the way he ate me up, and I loved how he couldn’t help touching me when he began strumming a nipple with the back of his index finger.
